The third game was played
March 29 in Blyth. Blyth land
Belgrave 0 giving Blyth the Tri.
County Trophy winning 2 games
to 1.
On March 28th Squirts played
in Blyth. Belgrave 5 and Kurtz-
ville 2 which gives the Belgrave
Squirts the trophy for the Tri.
County League.
The 'last two final games for
Midgets played March 30 in.
Wingh am it being Belgrave'S
home game. 'Belmore 3 Belgrave
2. April 1 in Belmore. Belmore 6
and Belgrave 2 giving Belmore
the Tri. County Trophy. •

' TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS — The Brussels Pee
Wee Hockey Team won the Young Canada Pee Wee
Tournament held in Goderich recently for the 'first
time in 29 years. The team includes: back row -
Atoms win Mildniay tournament
The local Atom team completed
their hockey season in fine
fashion by winning .the Mildmay
Atom Tournament this past
weekend. The boys put forth an
all opt effort and came up with 4
good games of hockey. Their first
game on Saturday morning was
against the Ripley squad. The
home town team came up with a
4-1 victory. One goal each was
scored by Kevin McAt ter,. Dean
Wheeler, Tim Fritz, Wayne
Wheeler. Assists went , to Tim
Fritz, Kevin Johnston.
The second game on Saturday
-was against a team from Lefroy;
whom they'''':deleated 8 - 2. Tini
Fritz led the way with 4 goals,
Kevin McArter 2, Dean Wheler
and Kevin Johnston, 1 goal each.
Assists went to Rich Knight,
Kevin Johnston, Kevin McArter,
Marty Rutledge.

service we receive. Not being a
prolific letter writer the increase
will not bother me. Even at Bell
rates I prefer the telephone for
communication with family and

Trudy Cowan, one of our avid
local canoeists, came to freezing
grief in a recent competition. She
was thrown into the icy waters of
the swollen Bayfield River when
the kayak overturned when she
got off course of the 10-mile route
and had to swim to shore.

April has been declared
"World High Blood Pressure
Month" by the World Health
Organization in co-operation with
the International Society of
Cardiology. The theme of the
month is "Down With High Blood
Pressure". Thosuands of
Canadians suffer with this
disease which is a factor in Heart
Attack and Strokes. Many are not
aware they have it. There are no.
symptoms. Have your blood
pressure checked. If your doctor
prescribes medication take it
regularly for the rest of your life.
There is no cure, only control.

Slippery highways Monday
morning , caught motorists
unaware, The R.C.School bus
skidded off the road and turned
over in the ditch as the driver was
leaving to pick up students. York
Ice Cream truck slid into the rear
of a Jutzi truck and went off the
road north of. BrUssels. No
were reported.

Mildmay on Sunday to play the
Elnia-Logan team. They came up
with a 6-3 win. Kevin McArter
scored 3 of the goals, Tim Friz 2,
Marty Rutledge 1. Rich Knight
picked up the only assist of the
game.
After fourteen teams had been
eliminated the final two teams
Thornton and Brussels played for
the championship at 6:30 on
Sunday night. In an excellent
game of hockey the Brussels
squad came up with a 3-0 win for
the Tournament champions. It

Logan and came up with a 5-0
win. Goal scorers were Brian
Tenpas, Todd Wheeler, Mike
Watson, Paul Johnston, Ken
Cousins. Assists went to Les
Black, Kevin Deitner, Todd
Wheeler, Steve Knight. They
completed their consolation in top
place in this division.
The Bantams played an
exhibition game against
Wingham. on Wednesday night
and were defeated 4 -2. Brussels
goals were scored by Steve
Knight and, Kevin Deitner.
Assists went -to Brian Tenpas,
Les Black, Paul Johnston.
• On Saturday afternoon the
Bantam team travelled to
Tiverton to play their first game
in the consolation playoffs. They
lost the game to Tiverton 7 - 1.

Tournament. The Brussels goals'
were scored by Tim Fritz, Kevin
• Johnston and. David Wheeler.
Assists went to Kevin McArater,

This team completed their
season as winners of the
Seaforth Optimist Tournament,
the Brussels Optimist Atom 'D'
Champions, the Mildmay
Recreation Atom Tournament and
W.O.A.A': Atom 'Er champions.
Congratulations boys 'on, a good
season.
Brussels only goal was scored by
Mike Watson assisted by Paul
Johnston and Ken Cousins.
Tiverton will be returning to
Brussels on Monday evening for
the second game of the series.
The midget team played their
last game of the season on Friday
night against Elma-Logan. They
were defeated 6-4. Scoring for
Brussels was -Brian Deitner, 2,
Scott Wheeler, and Doug
Cousins, 1 each. Assists went .to
Rob Demaray, Ken Higgins,
Doug Cousins.
The hockey season for our town
is just about over. Tiverton
Bantams will be back in town on
Tuesday night (last) for the third
and deciding game of the series.
The ice will be taken out of the
arena and you'll be able to enjoy
roller skating once more. It will be
starting within the next two
weeks I understand. Have fun.
