Need $1300 for crippled kids
The Brussels 'Lions Club is
trying to reach the $1300. mark as
its objective for helping crippled
children, fund chairman Hank
Ten Pas. -
This year's objective is; up $100
from last year. In the past few
years, Brussels has overshot its
Objective and Mr. Ten Pas sayS,-
they're hoping they will again this
year.
"Everything is out in the hands
of the people and so far, there's
already been a good response,"
Mr. Ten Pas said.
Mrs. Bessie Wintle
Mrs. Bessie Wintle, formerly of
Brussels, died on March 28, at
Huronview Clinton where she had
resided for the past nine years.
Elizabeth Victoria (Bessie) was
, the youngest daughter of the late
Charles and Eliza Wright, pione-
er residents on the 17th Con. of
Howick Township.
Born on April 3, 1892, she
spent her early life in Howick,
and was married to John Dixon
who died in 1929.
Following her second marriage
to Archie Wintle, the couple lived.
near Montreal, and later moved
to Brussels where Mrs. Wintle
died in 1961.
Mrs. Wintle was predeceased
by four sisters and five brothers,
and by a step-son, Chester Wintle
who was killed in World War
Two.
She is survived by a step-son,
Reuben Wintle in New Hamps-
hire, and several nieces and
nephews. '
Mrs. Wintle rested at the
Watts Funeral Home in Brussels.
A memorial service was eonduct-
ed on Wednesday evening by the
Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian
Legion of which she was a
member.
Funeral services were conduct-
ed by her pastor, Rev. Eric Le
Drew on Thursday, March 30th.
Pallbearers were Elmer Haskins,
Ivan Haskins, Melville Dennis,
Charles Thomas, Grahani
Wright, and Ralph Pearson.
Temporary entombment took
place in the Brussels Cemetery

helping crippled children betwe-
en the ages of 7 and 19 so they
can have wheelchairs, crutches,
any kind of therapy. whatever
they're in need of as well as
rehabilitation.
The Ontario Society for Crip-
pled Children was founded in
1922 by 10 service clubs who
adopted physically handicapped
children as their field of service.

of the late Mrs. Wintle.
W.S.Murray
William Stewart Murray, 74, of
Brussels, died in Seaforth Com-
munity Hospital, on Sunday,
March 26.
He was born in Morris Town-
ship, son of the late Alexander
and Catherine Murray and was
educated there. The late Mr.
Murray was 1 farmer and was a
member of Duff's United. Church,
Walton.
He is survived by his wife the
former Della McNabb, a daught-
er, Katherine (Mrs.,, 'Ralph
Childerhose), of Kitchener, and a
son, Douglas of Brussels. Also
surviving are his sisters, Norma
(Mrs. John Larmer) of London,
Dorothy (Mrs. Earl Nott) of
Clinton and Margaret (Mrs. "Olen
Haase) of Sault St. Marie, and his,
brothers Charles and Gordon of
Walton, David of Wingham and
Ken of Toronto.
He was predeceased by a sister
Grace (Mrs, George Kirkby) of
Sudbury and a brother Donald in
the Second World War.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday at the M.L.Watts
Funeral Home at p.m. With
Reverend Ed. Baker and Rever-
end Eric Le Drew • Officiating.

Ten Pas said that anyone who is
in need of something that the
Lions Club doesn't know about
should contact them and they will
get in touch with the District
nurse.
The Campaign runs pretty well
just for the month of April but
people can continue to send
donations all year round. The
fund raising appeals are sent
through the mail as are donations
to the fund.
"I think it's a real boost for the
kids," Mr. Ten Pas said.

in the Bluevale Community Hall
on Thursday, March 23. Mr. and
Mrs. Mungo MacFarlane and Mr.
and Mrs. George Fischer were in
charge. Those winning prizes

Moffatt; High Man - Ross Turvey;

euchre on April 6, will be hosted
by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elliott and
Mr. and Mrs. Les Greenaway.

Humphrey was in charge of the.
service Sunday when he chose as
his sermon, "Who Opened The
Door?" The choir sang an
anthem, "An Easter Carol".
