0 — THE BRUSSELS POST MARCH 29 5 1978
Kings married 60 years
William Campbell King and his
wife, the former Lilian Gertrude
McCall were married for 60 years
co March 27 and both say the
reason for their long years of
marriage is that the Lord guided
them,
"We trust in Him anyway",
Said Mrs. McCall who was born in.
Delhi in 1896. Her husband was
born in Morris Township in 1894.
They met each other through
friends of Bill's sister and were
married at the bride's h ome in
Bluevale where Mary King (no
relation) and Walter Scott, a
former postmaster in Brussels in
1918, stood up for them. • Rev.
D,D.Thompson officiated at the
ceremony.
The Kings farmed at their
current home at R.R.2, Bluevale
for awhile, then in 1922 moved
into Brussels where Mr. King
sold Ford cars. In 1924 they
moved to New Liskeard where
Mr. King sold lightening rods.
Four years later they came back
to Brussels. While they lived in
town they helped Mr. King's.
mother at the farm they now
occupy.
In subsequent years Mr. King,
in addition to farming, was busy
at several other positions. He
drew cream and was a foreman on
Highway 86 from Wingham to
Listowel and for several years was
the inspect or for the provincial
farm loan board for Huron "and
Bruce Counties. They sold all the
cattle last fall and now they just
have race horses -- three mares
and a foal.
The Kings have three children,
Mrs. Carl (Marie) Douglas, a high
school teacher who lives in
Belmore, William H. King the
clerk of Brussels and Mrs. Jack
(Janet) Day a public school
teacher who lives in Wingham.

Life/bile
A good Lifestyle in-
cludes proper eating habits.
No single food provides all
the nutrients essential to
good health. Eat a variety of
foods every day, choosing
from the five basic catego-
ries - dairy products, fruit,
vegetables, cereals, meat and
fish.'
The Kings have five grand-
children.
Mrs. King played the organ in
the Presbyterian Church in
Brussels for 18 years and she also
gave piano lessons from the time
she was 15 till she was about 60
years old.
The. Kings said the Lord has
kept them •very healthy over all
those years and that they thanked
Him for that.
The Kings are celebrating their
anniversary on Saturday April 1
at the Melville
Presbyterian Church in Brussels
with all their friends, neighb ours
and relatives.
