THE BRUSSELS. POST, MARCH 22, 1978
Beigrove women talk flowers
Correspondent
Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse
Prayer from the service book
repeated in unison Was the call, to
worship when the afternoon unit
of the U.C.W. met March 14.
Mrs. Leslie B olt, convenor of
the worship service read scripture
from Matthew and Mrs. Robert
Coultes gave meditation; Edster,
theme of re-birth. Mrs. Bolt
continued, with her topic, "The
place of flowers in the message, of
Easter." When Jesus died he was
buried in a. beautiful garden so it
is fitting that flowers should
express for us the joy that, fills. our,
hearts at Easter time, she, said.
Flowers help us realize that
there is really no death at all, only
life eternal for the children of
God. The .poem, "Early Easter
Morning" was 'followed by the
last two verses of the opening
hymn and prayer in unison.
Prayer was the subject of the
Bible study and taken by Mrs:
Fenton Luke is the book of prayer
and Jesus prayed on 'several
occasions.
Lord, what do you want me 'to
do? Must be the Christian's
continual question, she said. The
two prayer Parables, The Friend
at Midnight and "the Unjust
Judge" were read by Mrs. Ross
Higgins. Several members read a
verse of scripture relating to
prayer.
Mrs. Cecil Coulte 's brought an
Easter message with the theme
"The Empty Cross and the Empty
Tomb spell a Full Salvation."
Mrs. Coultes read the poem,
"The Rest of the Story," then
spoke on the symbolism of thd
Cross.
The cross is the symbol of our
existence, the symbol of suffer-
ing, the symbol of love and the
symbol of life eternal, she said.,
The poem, "Serve Christ Arose"
and prayer ,closed the meeting.
