Officers elected as follows; President - Laura Dennis, Vice Pres. - Lynda Axtmann, Treasurer - Dianne Godkin, Press Reporter, Cathy McGavin. Them will be a floating secretary. Leader Mrs. Albert Hudie and they' Correspondent Mrs. Allan McCall 887-6677 Walton 1 - 4-H Club met at the home of Julie Blake on Wednesday evening, March 1st with 9 girls preSent. The roll call, was'answered by "An important rule • for baby sitters". Nanci Bennett read the minutes. The name chosen for the club is "Leisure Lovers" The girls had as their guest speaker, Art McNaughton from the Seaforth Ambulance service, who explained about first aid care and concluded the Meeting with the 4-H motto, "Learn to do- by doing". World Day of Prayer Community Spirit in Modern Living was the theme for the World Day of Prayer service held in Duff's• United Church on Friday afternoon. Mrs. Campbell Wey presided for the Call to. Worship. The order of service of worship was followed bOtlie prepared material by the Women's Inter-Church Council of Canada. The pianist was Mrs. Laverne Godkin for the hymns throughout the service 4:Praise to the Lord"; "As children of one Father" and "They'll' know we are Christians by our love". Readers taking part were Mrs. Wey; Mrs. Don. McDonald ' and Mrs. Allan McCall. Voices were taken by Mrs. Norman Schade and Mrs. N elson Reid. Scripture readings were taken by Mrs. Ken McDonald; Mrs. Nelson. Reid; Mrs.' Graeme Craig and Mrs. George Williamson. The offering was received by Mrs. Lawrence Ryan and Mrs. C. McCutcheon and dedicated by Mrs. Wey. Mrs: Merton Hackwell, Mrs. Walter Bewley and Mrs.. Lavern Godkin acted as a panel giving thoughts on the theme. The question asked "Who'are those in our • neighborhood who need acceptance/into our Community". We should reach out beyond our community) we should be kept community minded, you should come out to social activities to get to know those people moving in or out. Keep inviting those to meetings, be friendly. Rev. Ed. ,13;,Vcer gave the closing benediction. The 2nd meeting was held at the home of Liz Reinink. A name for the club was chosen as "The Busy Bees": Members started quilted samples, to be made into a', pin •-cushion. 12 members answered the roll call. Mrs. Clare Veitch acted as leader and others reading were Mrs. Geo. Smith, Mrs. Stuart McNair, Mrs. Dunn, Mrs. John A Perrie and Mrs. Gary Morrison. A topic on "Community Spirit in Modern Living and Prayer" was given by Mrs. Mac Engel. Hymns sung were "Come let us sing of a wonderful love," "What a friend we have in Jesus", "take time to be holy" and "Christ for the world we sing" with Mrs. Leslie Knight as pianist. Prayers given by Mrs. Calvin Cameron and Mrs. Stanley necessary for his back before returning home. Fischer, Mrs, Stuart Stevenson presided for the business. Mrs. John Vanass read the minutes and Mrs. Veitch gave the treasurer's report. There will be an executive meeting in Stratford' on Tuesday, March 14. Cards and visits were recorded by Mrs. Fischer. Lunch was served by the hostess and Mrs. M. Engel and Mrs. Gordon Engel. Personals Stanley Fischer is recuperating , at home following surgery recently in Stratford Hospital for a shoulder injury.
