Another legislative session got
nnderway this week with the
traditional Speech from the'
Throne outlining the
Government's intentions and
programs.
In the Government blueprint
was an emphasis on less
government spending and less
interference with the • private
sector.
Among the highlights in the
speech was an increase of $26
million from $6,7 million, to
increase summer jobs for 36,000
young people under 24 years of
age.
Workshop will
Pork producers will be able to
receive more information on
swine diseases through a health
improvement workshop which is ,
to be held on Thursday, March 9
at the Londesboro Hall.
The workshop will emphasize
preventive measures and create
an awareness of the economic
losses that are realized by cond-
itions affecting the well-being of
pigs. Included in the discussions
will be the common diseases,
environmental inflUences, disin-
fection and sanitation, disease
control and immunity. Proper use
of chemothefapeutic agents, drug
residues, and• withdrawal periods,
feed additives, and parasites will.
also be the>sujects discussed in
the day long workshop.
How to .start feeder pigs, the
reproductive process and prob-
lems, OMAF • health programS,
herd health programs, VSB ser-
vices and a discussion period will
also be on the agenda. -

translating Ontario statutes into
French.
