Cranbrook WI sets catering rates •

Following a potluck dinner the
congregation of Knox
Presbyterian Church held it's
annual meeting in the church
basement on Feb. 15. Dr. Ross.
K. Thomsonopened the meeting,
reading Ephesians Ch. 4,
followed by a brief meditation,
stressing that we must work
together, co-workers with God,
and then prayer. Dr. Thom son
acted as chairman', for• the
business and Mrs. Gordon Engel
was secretary. The minutes of the
previous meeting were read and
adopted., All reports were
encouraging and were-adopted
as printed. The resignation of
Mrs. M.J. Engel as secretary was
accepted with regret and this was
referred to the Board of
managers.
Mrs. Leslie Knight, Gary
Morrison and Jack Conley were
appointed to the board for a 3
year term. Mrs. Stuart McNair
was named auditor from the
congregation. Clare Veitch on
behalf of the congregation
expressed 'thanks and
appreciation to Dr. and Mrs.
Thomson for their leadership and
work among us during the past
year. The meeting closed with,
prayer by Dr. Thomson.
Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Knight
were guests.. at the wedding of
Judy Ward and Roger Read which
took place on Sat. Feb. 18 in First
United C,hurch in Waterloo.
Mrs. C. Veitch was hostess of the
February meeting of Cranbrook
W.I.,.
Mrs. Hart gave a .treasurer's
report and collection and pennies
for, friendship were collected.
After some discusSion and
several motions it was decided
that the WI would -n,olonger have -
a two price system for catering.
The price of a: dinner served at'
Cranbrook hall will be $3.75 per
plate. A cold buffet "or
smorgasbord will be done for the
cost of all groceries plus .50 cents
per guest.
A light lunch or buffet will be
done for the cost of all groceries
plus 25cents per guest. It was
recommended that in future the
WI be sure how many members
will be able to help before
consenting to cater.
The delegate to. Officer's
Conference in Waterloo, May 2-4
will be Mrs. N. Lefor.
Mrs. C Veitch relayed some
highlights from a district director
meeting in Moncrief. District
Annual will be held May 9 in
Brussels. Cranbrook is
responsible for thanking the
guest speaker. Judgingof "house
Logs" at the District level will be
done jtlf,i prior to the District
Annual. i.'ach branch will receive
details about WI/participation in
the '78 International Playing
Match by May 1.

World Affairs took charge of the

The 2nd meeting of the Qiiilt:ing
Queens was- held on Feb. 13 at
Arlene Strickler's. What is
quilting, colour and design,
choice of fabric- and notion were
discuised. Nancy demonstrated
how to piece together our quilted
sample. Six members answered
the roll call. The meeting was
closed with 4-H pledge.,
peace is the road that leads from
my .house to that of my
neighbour" was given by Miss
McNabb.
Mrs. Leslie Knight read several
"smiles".
Mrs. Witch talked on
Immigration calling 'attention to
the many benefits to Canada's
culture and traditions as well as
some of the problems to be solved
if Canada's to have a reasonable
immigration policy. Above all we
should, treasure our many rights
as. Canadian citizens, she said.
Mrs. VV, Strickler reviewed
current events taken from the
"Brussels Post". The events
concerned the Van Vliet family,
current 4-H homemaking clulbsInd
the Listowel Secondary School.
Choir's involvement with the
Youth Singers of Ontario.
Miss McNabb conducted an old
fashioned geography match
which had to be stopped due to
shortage of time, before a
winning side could be declared.
Lunch provided by Mrs. Cox and.
Mrs. G. knight was served.
