Highlights of the annual Perth,
Huron United Church Women
meeting were presented by Mrs.
W. Stamper at the Feb. 1 meeting
of the Bluewater U.C.W. Mrs.,
Stamper announced Mrs. Doris
Zurbrigg as the new president for
the Perth-Huron U.C,VV.
Members were interested to
see a picture of the new girl they
sponsor in Thailand:
The group decided to make a
donation to the Alcohol and Drug
Concerns organization.
Rev. W: grown enlisted the
help of r.W.mernbers in
visiting shut-ins in the vicinity.
,A reminder was then given that
the World Day of Prayer would be
observed at the Bluevale United
Church, • March 3. Plans were
discussed for the congregational
meeting to be held Sunday, Feb..
12 at 2 p.m.
Mrs. W. Nicholson opened the -
worship service with a, poem and
a scripture reading from John4• (7
- 16) Mrs. William Peacock read a
message called "The Worth of a
Woman" and Mrs: Carl Johnston
led the group in prayer.
Unit one presented a skit titled
'St. Peter Look at Me". It showed
St. Peter interviewing three
U.C.W. members at the Pearly
Gates, and was both amusing and
thought-provoking.
Following the meeting a social
time was enjoyed with lunch
served.
The sixth 'intergenerational
service was conducted Sunday
morning in the United Church by
the minister, Rev. Wilena Brown.
The theme was "The Word"
Many Bibles were on display
including German, Latin,
Children's Bibles and one Bible
printed in 1628 owned 'by the
Garniss family . The - most
commonly used are the King
James. Version, the Revised
Standard Version, Good News for
Modern Man and The New
English Bible. These were
introduced and used for reading.
A filmstrip with tape was
shown about the manuscripts and
letters written in ancient days and
how they eventually were
gathered together to become the
Bible. Joanne Edgar sang, "Keep
The Bible In Your Heart".
Scriptures were read from the
different versions of the Bible by
Mrs. Bert Garniss, Mrs. Harvey
Edgar, Mrs. Bert Hastings and
Murray Hastings: ,Mrs.. Garniss
told the story of Mary Jones and
how the Bible Society was
started. Mrs. Harvey Edgar led
in prayer and Mrs. Carl Johnston
was in charge of .the music.
Next Sunday the, Young
People's group will take part in
the service. The annual
congregational meeting will also
be held in the church next Sunday
afternoon.
:Six tables of euchre were
played in the Bluevale
Community Hall, Thursday, Feb.
9, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey
Timm and Mr. and Mrs. Murray
MacFarlane. Prize winners were -

Frances Shaw; High Man - Mung
MacFarlane; Low Man - Bob
Gillespie; Lucky Draw - Sheila
Walker.
The next euchre will be in
charge of Mr, and Mrs. Glenn
Sellers and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd . Warwick on Feb. 23.
