After the call to worship and invocation devotions were given by Mrs. Ralph Dickson, Mrs. Elmer Jeffray and Mrs. George Nickel of Belmore. Address of welcome was by president of the local group, Mrs. Gordon Wall. Highlight of the meeting was the guest speaker, Mrs. Hugh Nugent of Ripley who was introduced by Mrs. R. Cumming. Mrs. Nugent conducted an educational and interesting workshop on the Study Book - The Local Church and also explaned the books on Nazareth Mani esto and Caribbean Crescent. Groups were formed to study and explain, to watch a.film and to give a play. Correspondence dealt with the workshop to be held in June in Guel ph to which it was decided to send Mrs. Gordon.Mundell and Mrs. Robert Arbuckle of Wingham, Mrs. H. Nugent of Rlipley and Mrs. K. Culture and Recreation Minister Robert Welch as he launched the Ministry's , newest program "Half Back" whereby you can use old Wintario tickets to buy Canadian books and Canadian magazine subscriptions. "A Wintario ticket costs $1.00. Non-winning tickets for the January 19th to April 12th draws are now worth 50c towards the purchase of a Canadian authorized book or a subscription to a Canadian magazine," Mr. Welch said. A maximumoffour old Wintario tickets which is worth $2.00 may be used towards the purchase of a book or magazine subscription that costs at least $3.00. Close to 100 consumer magazines and more than 450 Ontario bookstores are participa- ting in the program, Tickets are redeemable only by authorized participants. The program will operate for a three-month period from January 20,1978 to April 12. A guide book listing over 7,000 Canadian authors has been prepared to assist bookstores in identifying eligible books. The Ministry has produced a brochure describing the program and listing most of the magazines participating in Half Back. This brochure also includes a convenient coupon for ordering new subscriptions. The public can pick up this brochure at many Wintario ticket outicts participating in the program, Ministry regional copy of the funeral service held for Miss Dorothy Douglas in Taiwan 'where she had been a missionary for many years. Greetings from Presbytery were brought by the moderator, Rev. D. Kemble of Walkerton, who gave much praise for the work of the Women's. Missionary Societies.
