I would like to say "Thank You"
to everyone for being so
thoughtful with visits, cards and
gifts while I was in University
Hospital and since returning
home. Special thanks to my

"Hard work and all the good
things and all the bad things" are
what Jennie and Wilbur Turnbull
say have contributed to 60 years
of happy married life.
The couple celebrated their
diamond wedding anniversary on
Saturday, January 7 with open
house at their home on Thomas
Street in. Brussels, when about
200 friends and relatives called to
offer congratulations and best
wishes.
Mrs. Turnbull is the daughter
of the late Mr. and Mrs. John J.
McGavin of McKillop and Mr
Turnbull is a son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Oliver Turnbull of Grey.
They were married at the home of
the bride's parents on January 9,
1918 by Rev. F. W. Craik of
Walton United Church. Following
their marriage, the couple farmed
on Lot 11, Concession 15 of Grey
Township for 53 years, specia-
lizing in raising shorthorn cattle
and Yorkshire and Lacombe
swine. They exhibited livestock at
the first Royal Agricultural Fair in
Toronto in 1922 and for the next
50 years, until 1973 when their
herd was disposed of, they were
consistent winners,
Mr. Turnbull, who is known to
his friends as Wib, has taken a
keen interest in community
activities as well as holding office
'with various livestock associa-
tions. He is a charter member of
the Brussels Liong Club arid is

1970, she has been associated
with the United Church Women

The Turnbulls have two sons
and two daughters. Dr. John 0.

lives in Brussels has carried on
the family tradition established
by his father of exhibiting consis-
tent winners at major livestock
shows. He is a capital grant
inspector for the provincial
government for North Huron.
Their two daughters are Helen,
Mrs'. George Habkirk of Ingersoll
and Dorothy , Mrs. D. S. Lawless
of Burlington. They also have 11
grandchildren and 14 great-
grandchildren. One grandson,
Murray Lawless lost his life five
years ago while completing his
studies for a Ph.D. degree at
Cornell University in New York.
Although Mr. Turnbull jokingly
said, "There was no place else to
go" as the reason fOr their
longlived marriage,
Ttirnbull probably hit upon the
real reason for their success,
"We just had:to work together,"
she said.
The COuple received
anniversary greetings from Prime
Minister Trudeau, Premier Davis,
R. McKinley MY, and Murray
Gaunt Mt*, in addition gifts of
flowers as well as Other eon-
grattdatOry messages.
We wish to express our sincere
thanks and appreciation to our
friends and relatives who

home on the occasion of our
