Majestic Institute
Holds Christmaspotluck
A /limber of Christmas carols
were sung with Mrs. Kerr at the
piano,
Mrs. Peggy Cudmore gave a
reading "An old maid does her
Xmas Shopping" and The
Stompers put on a few numbers.
Roll Call was a donation . for
shut-ins' boxes and gifts were
exchanged. The next meeting will
be January 11, 1978 at 2 p.m.
' The Majestic Institute held
their Christmas pot luck dinner
December 14 at 12:30 in the
Library. Thirty-five ladies sat
down to enjoy dinner.
Doris McCall opened the
meeting with a Christmas poem.
The new course "Focus on
Living" includes quilting,
knitting and crocheting and is
being held January 26-27.

St. Ambrose CWL bazaar
draws Christmas shoppers
The St. Ambrose Christmas
Bazaar was held in Brussels on
Saturday, Dec. 3 - with a large
display of crafts, baking and
produce. There was a good
turnout of Christmas shoppers for
the occasion.

Toronto choir
Gerald Fagan has been
appointed the first 'conductor of
The Toronto MendelssolM Choir
Youth Choir.
Mr..Fagan 'is currently Music
Director of the Listowel High
Shool, Listowel, Ontario. Born in
London, Ontario, he graduated
from the University of Western
Ontario in 1961, attended
Michigan State University and
studied conducting with Robert
Shaw. He has also studied with
Julius Herford of the University
of Indiana, William Vennard of
the University of. Southern
California, and at the Julliard
School in New York. In 1972 he
served as ,conductor of the
Ontario Youth Choir and since
1974 has been conductor of the
Ontario Youth Singers.
His Listowel High School
chorus has toured the British Isles .
and received three awards at the
Cork International Choral
Festival. The choir has also won
the open class competition.at the
Toronto Kiwanis .Music Festival
on many occasions, and was
Chosen outstanding choir at the
Canadian Music Educators
Association convention in 1973.
