announced in last April's Ontario
Budget.. •
The new fees increase the 'cost
of registration for a foUr;eylinder
carfrom $23 to $30; a six-cylinder
car from $32 to $45.:, an eight
cylinder car from $40 to $60.
Motorcycle registration fees are
up $5 -- from $15 to $20.
In addition , an y automol06
with an engine displacement of
more than 6.5 litres (397 cit. in.;
which is registered forthe first
time, will cost the °water $80.
Under the new schedule, 1978 •
registration fees for all privately-
owned passenger, cars and
motorcycles in the northern half
of the province have been
reduced to $10.,
For vehicle _registration
purposes, "Northern Ontario"
means that part 'of the province
consisting of the .territorial
districts of AlgOina,' -Cochrane,
Kenora, Manitoulin, ' Yarty..
• Sound, Rainy River. Sudbury.

that portion of the, territorial
district of Nipissing lying 'north
and west of Algonquin Provincial
Park.
The Minister. added that an
amendment to the commercial
motor vehicle fee schedule is also
being prepared .to .allow horthern
,Ontario residents ,toy= purchase
their 1978 annual registration for
ivans and pickup tru.cks. of 5,000
pounos or less for tne same fee as
,passenger car's'-•! $10 -providing
purposes and private transpor.-
tation.
Under the, amendment,
passenger car registration fees
can also apply to all commercial

your new licence renewal sticker
is February 28, 1978.
To complte the renewal
procedure, xnOtorists are required
to present their Motor Vehicle
Permit, prOof' of insurance and
the appropriate fee to purchase
the blue 1978 stickers.
