The survey, completed by the ministry of natural resources, showed most landowners object to people using their land without asking and that many are opposed to mechanized recreational vehicles being used on their land. Roy Bellinger, a conservation officer with natural resources, told Huron County Council Friday that 2,234 landowners were Thsoe iii attendance at the November meeting of the W.M.S. of the Bluevale Presbyterian Church, held at the home of Mrs. Glenn McK ercher, had an interesting and economical journey under the guidance of Mrs. Ross Gray as she took them via the Magic Carpet to the land of Nepal in the Himalayas of India. As concrete material she used a display board of maps, pictures and written descriptions. Nepal is the home of 14,000,000 people in a long, narrow area ab out one-half the size of the British Isles. Discussion was held on the call for funds for the "Dock" project resulting in its being shelved again. Mrs. Golley reported briefly on the Fall Rally, and Mrs. Gray presented a financial statement. A note of' thanks from Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walker for expressions of sympathy was read. The results of these efforts will not be known for some time, the board says. h is not yet known how the weather will affect the availability of seed for next year's bean crop, according to the boards letter. A survey will be done to determine the extent of the seed problem. Even if seed supplies prove adequate and the consumer shortage doesn't materialize, 1977 is a "year that will be remembered painfully by growers, processors, shippers, and canners" the OBPMB says. surveyed in Huron and. Perth counties and townships in Bruce and Middlesex counties. He said the survey had a 60 percent return from the owners and gave the ministry a good idea about people's concerns of public use of their land. Mr. Bellinger said the greatest objection was . mechanized recreational vehicles, He said people seemed to be concerned about damages resulting from the use of dune buggies, snowmo- biles, motorcycles and other such vehicles. He said there was also a Mrs. Frank Salter of Goderich who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Salter. Miss Dayle Fischer and Mr. and Mrs. George Fischer spent 'the weekend in Toronto with Mrs. Elsie Thuell- and Miss Pat Pritchard. It appears the Committee made 62 major proposals to reform thet system, to make it speedier, more accountable, simpler to understand and less fragmented. This in our view was not surprising, as the report by Professor - Comay and his Committee is described as the first comprehensive review of The Ontario Planning system since 1946. If this is the case the amendments must be numerous and very confusing. We as an Association are of the opinion the Committee wanted to say, "The people who live in the house know it best." The same thing should apply to Municipalities. We also are of the opinion that. planning at the local level by elected. Municipal Councils would create more interest on a great amount of input. Good pliii:ning standards would be required subject to appeal procedure and provincial veto. Therefore the Brussels random basis, Bellinger said the ministry personnel took the assessment roll for the area, and picked every seventh landowner and mailed a questionnaire.
