(Photo by Oke) - Brussels stockyard is busy The market at Brussels Stockyards Friday was higher on the choice steers while medium, cattle traded unevenly. Pigs traded steady.. There were 1148 cattle and 1401 pigs on offer. Choice Steers - 48.00 to 50.00 with sales to 50.25. Good Steers - 46.00 to-48,00: Two steers consigned by Bob Wheeler of Brussels averaging 1165 lbs. topped the market at 50.25 with his 35 steers averaging 1056 'lbs. selling for, an overall price of 48.95. Seven steers consigned, by Henry Farms of Blyth averaging 1097 lbs. sold for 50.10 with his offering of 8S steers averaging 4069 lbs. selling for 49.60. Three steers consigned by George McClure of -R.R.2, Seaforth averaging 1200 lbs, sold for 49.60 Ten steers consigned by Carl Fitch & Sons of Wroxeterr averaging 1031 lbs. sold for 49.50;, A Charlois steer consigned by Alvin Grainger of Wroxeter • weighing 1240 lbs. sold for 49.75. Twenty-five steers consigned. by George Underwood of R.R.1, Wingham averaging 1189 lbs. sold for 49.10. There were no, choice heavy heifers on 'offer. Good heifers traded from 40.00 to 42.50. Choice Cows - 24.50 to 26.50 with' sales lo Good Cows - 22.00 to 24.00. Canners & Cutters - 19.00 to 22.00. Bulls traded to ahigh of 33.50. At the Special Stocker .&• Feeder_ Sale on Tues., Oct. 18th, there were 1509 cattle with the choice 750 to 800 lb, yearlings trading from 44.00 to 45.50 with sales to 45.90. - The top lot , was sold by Jim McBurney 'of R.R.1, Wingham averaging 757 lbs. at 45.90. • 30 to 40 lb. pigs traded to a high of 40.00. 40 to 50 - lb. pigs to a high. of 44.50. 50 to 60-lb. pigs to a high of 46.50. 60 to 70-lb. pigs to a high of 49.50. - 70 to 80 -lb. pigs to a high of THE BRUSSELS POST, OCTOBER 26, 1977 —15 Dairy Princess in -management Diane Brand of R.R.3, Clinton was chosen Huron County dairy princess at a dinner-dance in Holmesville Friday night. She was crowned by last year's princess, Audrey Peel of Auburn. Miss Brand, an 18-year-old student in the agriculture business management course at Centralia College, won over four other competitiors - Jackie Brand, R.R.3, Clinton; Irene Logtenberg, Friendship c R.R.1, Dungannon; Jean Siertsenia, R.R.3, Myth and, Linda Smith, ,R.2.5, Seaford], The event was sponsored the Huron County Milk, committee. Miss Brand was the recipient of a set of luggage, a silver tray and twin silver picture frames with the princess "plaque in one. Each' of the other competit ors was. presented with a gift of money. ub meets Brussels Friendship Club met last Wednesday with a good attendance. Verna Thomas accompanied at the piano and E. Martin preSided while Mrs. G. Bolger read the minutes . It was decided to build a cupboard in which to store the sound system. Frank Hooper was named convener for Sunshine Cards on a motion by Mrs. Hackwell and 'Mrs. Steffler it was agreed to 'p ay $4 to the zone. Work and play clith to be held later.
