Bend and nearest birthday, Mrs.
Verna Tunney, Brussels.
Howard Latch of Palmerston
offered to show slides of New
jZ e-aland, Hawaii or Canadian West
to any club who would like them.
He 'ilsa sang a solo, "How great
Thou art". Mrs. Lorne Radford
was pianist for the day.
Eight clubs were represented
and highlights of their activities
were a shopping trip to London,
entertaining at Huronview,
making quilts to raise money,
bazaar at buffaloberger, and trips
to Lion Safari, Toronto, Black
Creek, Kleinburg and Ontario
Place. Entertainment consisted of
a magician act, poetry, a reading
and piano selections.

Arts and Technology in Kitchener
is once again offering its lecture
series for women.
The Kitchener Public Library is
once again working in
co-operation with the program
and the lecture will be held in the
Library Auditorium on the first
Tuesday of each month at 7:30
p.m.

The Ontario Convention of the
United Senior Citizens of Ontario
was held at McMaster University,
Hamilton, in August and was the
subject of an address by Mrs.
Leona Lockhart, honourary
president of the Zone eight rally
held in the Legion Hall, Brussels,
on Wednesday of last week. The
U.S.C.O. has been formed to
protect the rights of senior
citizens and members were told
each should contribute $1
annually to promote the aim, but
this is voluntary. They should also
do everything possible for shut
ins and older people. An • "In'
Memoriam" can take the form of
a $5 donation to U.S.C.O.

U.C.W. met in the Church room

local cases around the Huron
division were talked about. The
ladies of the unit were invited-to
the Enrichment Evening. in
Wingham on Oct. 12th . The
ladies were asked to put things in
the chitrch for Harvest Sunday.
The Evening Unit will have a
bake sale on Nov. 19 at the Public
Library.
A poem was read by Kate
Stevenson, Scripture was given
byLarke McDonald 'who also read
3 poems and closed with prayer.
The Nov. 2nd meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs. Jim
Cardiff at 8 p.m.
On November 1, the topic will
be women and politics with
panelists Bernice Adams,
Cambridge Alderman; Marjorie.
Carroll, Mayor, City of Wateroo;
Mary Jane Mewhinney, Waterloo
Alderinan. On December 6, the
topic will be Women and Physical
Health with panelists Dr— Larry
Kelly, Emergency Services, K-W
Hospital; Dr. Ellen Moyer,
Family Physician in Student

message on sharing, thankfulness
and love.
Mrs. W.J. Zerback, board
member of U.S.C.O. spoke on the
national convention held in
Niagara Falls. The theme was,
"Unity in life, help in joys and
sorrows." Age is a state of the
mind.Resources are necessary for
seniors to work. Guy Lombardo
played in Quebec for seniors on
his 75th birthday. Seniors can
now live abroad and. till collect
their pensions under certain
conditions. Parliament is
encouraging seniors to spend
their money:
Conestoga College is also
offering seminars for step-
parents which it is co-sponsoring
with the Children's Aid Society of
Kitchener.-.,
The seminars are being held at
Kitchener Public Library in the
Lounge on Thursday, October -27
and Monday, November 21 from
7:30 to 10 p.m.
