Fifteen members and a guest
attended the October meeting of
Cranbrook W.I. at Mrs Ross
Knight's home, Mrs. Jim Hart
gave a treasurer's report and a
The Rev. Wallace J. Murray of
Knox Church, Mitchell, was
guest speaker for the 112th
anniversary of Knox Church,
Cranbrook, on Sunday mornii.g.
Donald McDonald of Walton was
guest soloist contributing two
solos °Hold Thou my Hand" and
"How lovely are ThrDwellings".
The choir sang "I know who holds
to-morrow". Floyd Herman
accompanied on the piano with
Mrs. Stewart Steiss on the organ.
Rev. Murray's sermon was
"Guidelines for the church
today."
The Thanksgiving meeting of
the W.M.S. was held at the home
of Mrs. Stewart Steiss with an.
attendance of 15. Mrs. Stuart
Stevenson gave the topic
"Thanksgiving" . The leader
Mrs. Clare Veitch read
"Children's voices" in opening
and followed the thanksgiving
program in the "Glad Tidings".
Mrs, Earl Dunn, Mrs. Jack
Knight, Mrs. Mac Engel and
Mrs. John Vanass assisted with
readings. Tendollars will be sent
to "Armagh". Plans were
discussed for the Federation of
Brussels cubs

The. Brussels Cub Pack meeting
was held Oct. 11 for the World
Conservation Badge. Members
are building bird feeders and
keeping a report on them for
three months. After learning a
poem "Six Best Doctors" the
Cubs played several games and
looked at a n ew badge chart.

the Fall Rally held at Howick
Community Center. A short
course "Choosing & Using
Fabrics" will be offered

meeting. The roll call was a
thanksgiving verse. Mrs. John A
.Perrie and Mrs Wilfred Strickler
assisted the hostess with lunch.
Mr. and Mrs. Sid Barnes,
London, visited Mrs. Lylle
Gordon on the weekend and Mrs.
Emma. McCallum returned with
them to her home in St. Thomas.
Mrs. Leslie Knight attended an
automobile insurance course at
Cambridge October 12th and
13th.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wood,
Mite-hell and Mrs. Kaye Pfeifer,
Brussels, visited Mr.' and Mrs.
Earl. Dunn on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan
McTaggart, Goderich and Mr.
November 16 at Ethel Community
Center. The . date for the

been changed to October 26. Mrs,
Leslie Knight displayed a sample
of the badges .available to W.I.
Members for use at the 1978
and Mrs. Allan Seimon and
family, Brodhagen, attended the
anniversary service and visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Leslie. Knight
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Henry and
daughter Jana, Goderich, visited
Mrs. Stuart McNair.
Mrs. Lloyd Smith had the
misfortune to fracture her 'wrist
on Frd ay while picking apples.
Mrs. Glenn Huether moved to
Brussels last week.
The Cranbrook 4-H club met
Saturday when nine member s-
answered the roll call. Rosemary
demonstrated making pie crust
and two apple pies were also
made, one from scratch arid the
other from a convenience
package. M ost members favored
the homemade pie.
Ploughing Match.
The • President expressed
thanks to Mrs. Harvey Smith and
Mrs.Wm. Bremner fof their work
with the display at Brussels Fall
Fair. Mrs. Jim. Hart volunteered
to help convene the Christmas
concert as Mrs. Baker will be
unable to help. Mrs. F.
Workman, Mrs. G. Engel and
Mrs. C. Veitch are the committee
to look after the catering for the
Smith wedding. Mrs. C. Veitch
will be voting delegate at the area
conve' ntion Nov. 3 , and 4 at
Bingeman Park in Kitchener.
The meeting was combined
under the, conveners of 2
committees; Mrs. R. Knight and
Mrs. Workman as conveners of
Resolutions and both gave short
readings "Just for Today" and
"Help Me to Unclutter My Life".
The roll call "What year was
your house built" gave the

Mrs. Gordon Engle, some idea of
how members would manage
starting hofinse logs for each of
their homes. Both. Mrs. Engle and
Mrs. Baker told what should and
should not be included in a house
log. Each member was given a
mimeographed sheet of
suggestions and asked to begin a
house -log and bring it to the
November meeting.
Everyone took home at least
one item from a "white elephant"
auction with many useful items
exchanging homes.
Pennies for, Friendship and the
' collection were' taken. \Mrs. "V"an
Donkersgoed will be hostess for
the November 3 meeting with the
Family and' Consumer Affairs
committee supplying a guest
speaker..
Mrs. Carman Smith and
