This mixture forms the basis for Paul Thompson's latest production, Shakespeare for Fun and Profit, which will be presented at the Blyth theatre on Tuesday, October 11 and Wednesday, October 12. The play was rehearsed in Seaforth so there are many local jokes and references. But Paul Thompson also takes a satirical look at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, In Shakespeare for Fun and Pzofit, the centennial committee of Seaforth is stymied when its exciting schedule of events (including Bobby Curtola and the Helldrivers) falls through. John Earl Somers retires (Continued from Page 1) ['trough rain and snow and freezing hail, On icy roads and mountain ways, As faithful as on sunny days. He serves some boxes much too small For packages - but that's not all; Some are too high and some too low, No n ame's another mailman's woe, Folks cuss like blazes when they've found The mail can't make the idaily round, Bottom, farm implement dealer, and head of the centennial committee, decides to save the day by putting on a play, aided by a Wintario grant. He will save Cardno's Hall, which is scheduled for demolition; rescue the centennial celebrations, inject some "culture" into Seaforth, and maybe even make a profit. Bottom asksPeter Quince, a local high school teacher, to choose and direct a play. Quince chooses' Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream. The play, and the fun, goes on from, here. Shakespeare for Fun and Profit will be in Blyth for two nights only, after 49 years And, some are full of mighty Hate, When the mailman is a trifle late. Troubles are there for any man - Our mailman does the best he can, So tell those folks who rave and cuss; He's human like the rest of us. You've always. been a smiling friend, So when you reach the mail route's end, A star-filled crown will be y our due Earl i; our hats are-off' to you. EVE YOUNG,
