day-long games, Brussels 'was
pitted against Exeter; took an
early lead and held it to the end,
to win 4 to 1.
Games began at 8 a.m. Zurich
defeated Lieury 5 to 3 in the first
round; Exeter scored 1 to
Clinton's 0; Brussels 2 to South
Zorra's 0; and Elmira defeated
Goderich 2 to 0.
The fifth game, the first
consolation semi-final, saw Lieury
ake' Clinton 8 to 1 . In the sixth
game, the first championship
semi-final, Exeter defeated
Zurich 11 to 6. In the seventh
ganie, the second consolation
:semi-final, South Zorra won over
Goderich 8 to 6. The eighth game,
the second: championship semi-
final, saw Brussels win 4 to 3 over

amateur class over a nine mile
course Jerry and, Murray
Bremner of Brussels came second
for a silver medal. Their time was
team during the championship
playoff between Exeter ' and
Brussels.
Umpire-in-chief was Gary Weir
of Thamesford . Jim Bedard of
Zurich was official announcer and
scorekeeper.

tournmanet, sponsored• by the
Zurich Recreation Board, was
held last year for the first time.
Clinton were the 1976 champions.
Warren. Knight placed second in
mixed advanced amateurs over a
very choppy course. They, had a
time of 1:18.49, just a few
seconds behind. 'the winners, a
couple from Barrie.

Tempers grew frayed_ during
the daylong competition. Two
men, one from each team; were
ordered, to the bench -for
scrapping during the

The Brussels Bruisers, better ,
known as the Bombers have gone
down in defeat in the senii . final
game against Sebringville by a
score of 8-4 Sunday.
. Unfortunately it was lost in the
last inning by 4 runs. But it was a
hard fought game and the girls
played good ball.
All in all it was a good summer
for the team. Win or lose all
enjoyed playing ball and
socializing after. .
Coach Muzzy Lowe was quoted
as saying he enjoyed coaching 14
quiet, attentive women and would
be more Than happy to coach
again, next year with no raise in
pay. The girls would like to that
