A REAL SLUGGER — The Oldtimers proved they weren't entirely out of shape and
entertained a large crowd at the same time at their baseball grudge matches in
.E3russels,against Jamestown. Saturday night and Sunday. More important than the
scores was the fact that over $600 was raised for the new arena. (Photo by Langlois)
CUTTING THE CORNER -- Dan Lurtz of •iokylmer Quebec sent the mud flying ,
Sunday as he kept close, to the corners in the motocross race in Walton. 'There were
more than 30 competitiors in the expert class and 41 in the senior class. The
competition was sponsored by the Maitland Dirt Riders. (Expositor Photo)
With the blessing of almost
perfect weather conditions, a
crowd of nearly 3000 spectators
witnessed the largest turnout of
senior and expert riders to occur
in Canada as 174 racers competed
for $2500 prize money and points
in the Ontario Championship
series at Walton on Sunday
afternoon on the Chris Lee farm.
Saturdays races for juniors and
school boys drew 250 spectators
competitios and nearly 1000
spectators.
The Walton. Recreation
Committee capitalized on the
crowd netting over $1000 profit
from their food booth while the
Brussels Leo Club added $300 to
the Arena Fund by acting as track
marshal's for the two days.'
