Little guys : fight. back •
It isn't only big city consumer
advocates and citizens' groups
that can fight city hall. Small town
people can have their say too, and
the Blyth Summer Festival shows
them how in their latest play, The.
Shortest Distance Between. Two
Points, opening on Tuesday,
August 9 at 8.:30 p.m. The play is
the story. of a small village that
finds itself threatened by the,
provincial government's plans to
build .a highway directly through
their town. The villagers find a
novel solution to their problem,
but not before a little havoc and a
lot of laughs emerge from. the
situation. •
The playwright is Keith
with permission of
Stratford Musicians Assoc.
Local 418 A.F. of M.
Music donated by
Roulston, editor of the Myth
Standard, the Rural Voice and the
Village Squire, Keith was born in.
Lucknow and has lived most of his
life in western Ontario. In
addition to his newspaper work,
which reaches , most of
mid-western Ontario, Keith has
written a number of short stories.
The Shortest Distance Between
Two Points is, the final, offering of
the 1977 season of the Blyth
Summer Festival, It will run for
only five performances in, addition,
to tbe opbning night on August 9,
• so patrons are advised to reserve •
their tickets early, Tickets 'are.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Martin
returned last week from a tour of
Nashville, Tennessee.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lake of
Guelph called on friends in this
area on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Arnold of
London were visitors one day last
week with Mrs. Margaret Kerr.
We are pleased to report that
Jack Yuill returned home from
Winghatn hospital August 2
where he received many cards,'
letters, visits, 'and inquiries from
relatives, neighbours and friends
which were deeply appreciated.
-On Wednesday, August 3, he
received two calls from his
granddaughters, one from
Darwin , Australia, and
Edmonton, Alberta.
Mrs. Mary Hollinger of
Hamilton visited with Mr. and
Mrs. W. J. Perrie and other
cousins last week.
