Seatbelt enforcement
The Ontario Medical Association has asked the
Ontario government to enforce the law requiring use
of automobile seatbelts.
OMA President Dr. Lazarus J. Loeb of Ottawa, in
an open letter to Premier William Davis, urged the.
Government to declare, as a matter of policy, that the
cost of traffic accidents resulting from non-use of
• sea)'3,elts terms of human suffering and medical
is lec, lotable. Dr. Loeb suggested strict
..?) cemenl. of the seatbelt law would reduce these
ts,
Further public eduction campaigns showing
-that the constant use of seatabelts is rational and
fears of their use are irrational" were suggested.
The OMA believes the public, "when properly and
adequately informed of the facts and warned of the
consequences of non-compliance", will support fhe
seatbelt law.
Dir. Loeb also asked Premier Davis to urge the federai
government to review its standards for seatbelt
construction to ensure maximum strength, comfort
and reliability.

More good than bad
It is not known who perpetrated the vandalism at
the swimming pool recently but of whatever age it
shows lack of common sense.
On the other end of the scale The Advocate
contacted the clerk of Fullerton township to learn
that there was a splendid response to the Rural
Employment Incentive program, which just goes, to
show that we have both responsible and irresponsi-
ble people in our midst -- willing worker-s and
detested provokers. We cannot have too many of the
first nor too few of the latter and fortunately the
workers are in the preponderance.

And tioffmeyer's going to, help her

But I learned another thing about
Harvey Hoffmeyer when I unloaded
Keith's rototiller at his house. He's just not
repairing to keep us all civilized. e's
putting four b ig wheels On a metal bed and
rigging up a steering handle to the bed
head. For four nights he and some big boys
master-minded this galloping bed. It's for
the bed race for Mitchell's first annual
Cotnfest, Four men will push the bed and
another one will sit on the springs and
steer the thing:
Thank heavens for Harvey Hoffineyer,
