The visitors noted a marked
improvement in the condition of
our greens since last year. This is
due in some measure to the use of
a heavy lawn roller which was
donated for our use by Mr. Grube
of Zip Electric. The club members
appreciate his generosity and
wish .to express our gratitude' in
this column.

Hot stories from Brussels centre
Well, there have', been
numerous developments crop, up
in the past week dealing with the
Brassels-Jamestown classic on
August 13 and 14, and here are a
few of the hottest stories.
From the Brussels training
centre, there seems to be, a
difference of opinion between
"Leapin" Lou Ebel, star hurler,
and Ted "Casey Stengel"
McLean, Lou claims he'll be
throwing so hard that the 'catcher
will have to use a reinforced,
pillow-like glove to cushion the
impact of the ball. Coach
"Casey" responded with "I
haven't seen that sucker throw
fast enough to break a 1-ply
sheet of Delsey!" Earlier this
Week, I interviewed Dave
"Deadly with the Lumber"
McCutcheon, who said lid has
been practising every chance he
can get, Iona McLean verified
that, by telling me when she
threw her best slider on Tuesday,
Dave hit that Double-Puffed
Marshmallow clear to the salami
section,
From the Jay-Birds' headquar-,
ters, it is rumored there will be a
number of celebtitieS at the
game, including "Miss
amestown" herself, Ann David-
1):i Laurie, Incidentally, her
brother-in-law, "Ramblin" Ralph
Treibner, seems to be in a bit of a
turmoil. Since he played' for both
teams at different stages of his
illustrious., career, there is talk
that he is locked in a financial
' dispute and has gone into
seclusion.
Oakville, broke his thumb while
in the sudden-death tiddle-off of
the World's Tiddley-Wink
Championship against the Ladies'
Auxiliary, on the weekend.
Well, that's all for this week,
but stay tuned for more news
There has also been an injury about the Match of the Decade,
reported from the J's camp. Jim Oldtimers' Grudge Games,
'Von the Poo — Wheeler of august '13 and 14.
