Curt. Worsetsclager of
Innsbruuck, Austria has enjoyed
his first week in Brussels, but it's
very different from home.,
First of all, there are no
mountains within miles of this
Huron County village, and Curt's
hometown is surrounded by
mountains.The 22 year old law
student is an excellent skiier who
works part time as a ski
instructor.
He can't get over the vast
amount of land there seems to be
in Canada, the visitor says.
Curt's hosts in Brussels are..._the
Gordon Workman family. He's
here as part of a Lions Inter-
national exchange program and
this week he's attending camp in
St. Marys with other international
visitors.Hewill be back to Brussels
though.
Brussels and area people have
been very friendly and Curt has
had several excursions with some
of them. Last week he went to
Quebec on business . with Neil
McDonald and Bruce /Hamilton
and found that interstinA. He sat k,

seats about 550 people. The
Blyth Memorial Hall holds about
300.
In the rural area advertising
promotions don't fill the theatre
at the start of a season.
"It is a matter of building
audiences," Mr. I zett says. "In
a rural area it takes a while to
build audiences because it has to
tyayel by word of mouth."
Blyth theatre has the same
experience, according to Brenda
Doner, publicity director.
"At the start of the season we
have respectable audiences and
by the end we sell out," she said.
Despite this problem, both
groups say the local response has
been wonderful.
"We simply couldn 4t do it
without them," Ms. Doner says.
She points out that the Blyth
board of directors are all from the
local area.
The Petrolia artistic director
estimates that 25 percent of
Victoria's audience are from the
in on a lecture at the University of
Waterloo with Mrs. Doreen
Raymond.
The Austrian student met
members of the Brussels Leo
Club, the Lions sponsored group
for teenagers, at a swimming
party at the Ross McCall home.

"It is phenominal. In a large
city you are really doing well
when two percent go to the
theatre," he said.
Like Blyth, the Petrolia theatre
group attempts to feature basic
Canadian plays.
"Finding Canadian plays is not
the easiest .and finding good
Canadian plays is even harder,"
Mr. I nett says. The job is getting
easier though, he says, as theatre
is getting More support from the
arts councils..
The Victoria Playhouse group
