William Eckert of St. Marys
was appointed Director of
Education for the Huron Perty
County Roman Catholic Separate.
School Board at a special
committee of the whole in camera
meeting in Dublin Monday night.
The 39-year-old - former
principal with the Brant County
Sutton.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Dobson and
Darlene visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Eldon Mann at Kincardine.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Sutton, Mrs.
Bert Godden and Bonnie attended
the funeral in Bobcaygeon of their
sister and aunt, Mrs. K.K.
Anthony.

West Mount Rose, Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Scheerer and family of
Goderich visited with Mrs.

meeting a committee of four
trustees was formed to meet with
the new director to form an
organizational chart: John
O'Leary, Staffa; John O'Drowsky,
St. Marys; David Teahen,
Stratford and Michael Connolly,
Kippen.
Charlie. Scheerer and also with
Mr. Charlie Scheerer who is a
patient in. Listowel Hospital.
Mrs. Mervin Godden of
Shelburne spent the past
weekend with Mrs. Bert Godden
and Bonnie.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Querengesser of Stratford, Mr.
and Mrs. Richard Mason and
girls of Arthur, were visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. ,, Clifford
Querengesser.
Mr. Eckert, his wife Jo-Anne;
three daughters, Miry
Katherine 12; Colleen 10; Tara-
Anne, 6; and son Joseph 2,
recently moved to St. Marys from
.Brantford.
Mr. Eckert told the board'
following his appointment that he
believes strongly "that the
quality and strength of our.
system comes from the classroom
teacher. One great strength lies
in the quality of character and
skills that our teachers are
bringing to the education process
and without doubt that will
continue".
Hear Goderic
Laketown Ban
at Huronview.
The Goderich Senior Citizens Club visited the Home on
Friday and entertained with sons by Wanda Lipner, violin
selections by Bert McDonald, coloured slides by Bob Henry,
recitations by Mrs. 'Roy Finnegan and Mary Clairmont.
The final day of the Senior Citizens Week of activities
included an afternoon of table games sponsored by the
Seaforth Seniors. Prize winners for the highest euchre scores
,were Pearl Gidley and Louis Wild. The eldest, resident playing
cards was Mrs. Elizabeth Scott. '
The Brussels United Church Women entertained on
Monday afternoon with a variety program.There were vocal
solos and quartette numbers, step dancing and square
dancing. Following the program bags of treats were givetrto
each of the residents.
The Goderich Laketown Band played for a concert on the
lawn on Family Night. The thirty-member band is led by Miss
Storey with musicians from. Goderich, Clinton, Holmesville
and Bayfield.
The Bob HeywoOd Orchestra of Exeter entertained on
Tuesday evening with a program of favourite songs. The
orchestra includes Bob Heywood,, accordion, Calvin Horner,
guitar and Jeff Rooth, drums.
Theprograms outdoors provide an opportunity for all of the
resiclOts to hear the music from the west windows of
the Home or from the chairs on the lawn. •

Separate School Board came to
Huron-Perth Board in September
1975 as superintendent of special
education. A native of Seaforth,
he replaces John Vintar who has
taken a position as superinten-
dent with the Dufferin-Peel
Separate School Board.
Mr. Eckert, whose salary was
set at $37,000 plus benefits, will
