Drop impost
(Continued from Page 1)
passed in December 1976. The
by-law charges a levy of $12 per
foot on lots in undevloped areas
that require municipal services.
"We were really over the
barrel," Councillor George Jutzi
said. "I am 100 percent in favour
of an impost by-law."
Reeve Cal Krauter agreed.
"We sometimes make decisions
that, aren't the best. We were
faced with an ultimatum," lie
said.
Councillor Malcolm Jacobs said
a new impost fee bylaw was being
considered. Qualified municipal.
lawyers had said the by-law was
not legal, he said.
"Surely you wouldn't reinstate
it on anyone else after giving
those people the benefit. Your
conscience would never let you
sleep," Mr. McCutcheon said.
Reeve Cal Krauter said he
could see no reason not to impose
a new impost fee for new lots.
