SATELLITES AND SNOW GEESE — Investigators from
the Quebec Government, the Canadian Wildlife
Service and from private industry (Gregory Geo-
science Limited) are wing pictures taken from' satel-
lites to predict the nesting success of lesser snow
geese in the Canadian Arctic. The nesting success
of a snow goose colony is closely related' to the
date at which a significant proportion of the nesting
area is clear of snow. Therefore, if the pictures
from the satellite show that the shoW has cleared
early from the nesting area, the investigators can
predict that the nesting success Will be higher than
average,

(Editor's Note: John and Margaret Ainlay, descendants of the
founder of Brussels, visited here recently. They sent the
following letter to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bryans who thought
Brussels people would be interested in reading it.)
Dear Jack:
Margaret and I want to extend our congratulations to: you and
to the committee, and to all of you fine people who are getting the
job done in building your well-planned Community Centre.
We enjoyed our visit with you both so very much! You have
given us a very happy memory again. We don't know of any;
place where a group was gathered together so quickly as was.'':
done at the new Community Centre site that lovely Sunday
afternoon. We are delighted with the plans and to know that it is
progressing so well.
Thank you and all of the others who met with, us at the site to
show and tell us the fine plans for the building. It js certainly in a
beautiful location. With all of its facilities, we know there will be
many hours of enjoyment spent there.
We are enclosing a check - .a gift from the descendants of
William and Eleanor Ainlay. We all wish you well in 'the building
of this fine Centre, in memory of the past and for the present and
future citizens of your lovely village of Brussels:
