Enjoy play on
Family Night
The North Huron S.O.S. aranged a song service for Sunday
evening in 'the Auditorium. Mr. Bob Hibbert led the service
and Rev, Ball of Gorrie was the guest speaker. The Westfield
Church provided the music with vocal and instrumental
numbers.
Marie Flyn, Lorne Lawson, Norman Spier and Cecil Skinner
provided the olcl time music for Monday's program. The
Christian Reform volunteers assisted with activities.
The ladies of the Brucefield United Church presented a
musical play, "The Spinisters Club" on Family Night". The
play had a cast of forty ladies which included the actors and
the chorus. Mrs. Joyce Wilson directed the play with Mrs.
Elsie Henderson as pianist.The fine acting and music was
thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Mrs. Marian Sholdicc who
had a daughter and granddaughter in the cast expressed the
appreciation of the residents.
The Bluevale Women's Institute were hosts for the June
Birthday Party. Mrs. Jean Mathers was emcee for the
program which included a sing-a-long led by the Institute
rythm band. Accordion and piano solos were played by Cora
Henderson. Several selections were also played by a mouth
organ trio made up of .Eldrid Nichol, Harvey Robertson and
Gordon Walker, accompanied by Mrs. Ford. Gifts were
• presented to the twenty celebrants and lunch was served by
the ladies. Mrs. Fremlin who celebrated her ninetieth
birthday this month thanked the Bluevale Institute on behalf
of the residents.

Alberta drill a test hole on the side of a McKillop township road. An explosive
charge is placed in the hole and seismic readings are taken when it is ignited. The
data collected is used to determine if there is oil. in the area.

'The comapny which recently
started testing in McKillop
township has five drill units
working in the area.

the Royal York in Toronto June 20
to 24. They will attend the
reception for John Broadfoot, the
new Grand Master of the IOOF.

and Jessie Little. Wishes' for a
speedy recovery were extended to
Maggie Rutledge who is a patient
in Wingham District FlUspital.,

Lodge's elect and install their
officers the next year. In St.
John's Lodge, Brussels, installa-
tion lakes place at the June
meeting.

GEORGE FRANKLIN COATES
George Franklin Coats of 20
Greencrescent Circuit, 'died in
Scarborough General H ospital,
in his 77th year.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Margart Maunders, a
former resident of Brussels;
daug hter Mrs. Donald (Yvonne)
Adams of Scarborough, sons Dr.
Charles Coates of London, Dr.
Bert Coats, Thunder Bay; brother
Harold Coates of Vancouver, B.C.
and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral service was held from
the M.L.Watts, Funeral Home,
Brussels on Tuesday, June 14th
at 1:00 p.m. Interment was in
Brussels Cemetery.
The late Mr. Coates will be
remembered here by a number of
his former pupils when he taught
in the Brussels School some years
ago:

a past. District Deputy Grand

was Installing .Master this year.

Oil crews testin

Exploration's said it will depend
on the weather exactly how long
they will be working in the area.
The crews are unable to test when
it is raining because the
seismography would pick up the
noise of the rain and this would
distort the results.
He said he expects the crews to
