Plan children's workshop
The children of Blyth and the
surrounding area will have the
opportunity to participate in
theatre workshops this summer,
thanks to a grant from the village
of Blyth and the Ministry of
Culture and Recreation. • The
workshops are geared primarily
at children from the ages of nine
to fourteen, and will be held from
July 4 to August 17.
Kirk Grayson, a recent
graduate of the performance
stream of Ryerson Polytechnical
Dr. R.G. Hazlewood is this
week attending a meeting of the
Nominating Committee of the
General Council being held in
Toronto.
Mrs. Jean Bridge, Sr. P.D.D.
President and - Mrs. Florence
Webb, P.N.G. .of Morningstar
Rebekah Lodge are in Toronto
this week in attendance at the
Rebekah Assembly being held in
the Royal York Hotel.
Institute will conduct workshops
including masks, make-up
techniques, puppets and
improvisation exercises. Beth
Shier, will show the children the
basics of lighting, set design and
construction.
The goal of the workshops will
be the production of three original
scripts with the children as
performers. Jim Schaefer, co-
'ordinator of the workshops and
actor-writer-director with the
Blyth Summer Festival, has
Mr. and Mrs. Lane Hazlewood
and Deborah of Hamilton visited
with Dr. and Mrs. Hazlewood on
Sunday afternoon and evening.
Rev. and Mrs. Victor Buchanan
of Newmarket were visitors on
Tuesday with Dr. R.G.and. Mrs.
Hazlewood. Mr. Buchanan is a
former minister of Gorrie United
Church.
Mrs. Roy Thomas of Toronto
visited last weekend with Mr. and

workshops, entitle'd The Maitland
River Mud Monster and Tree,
The third production will . be
created by the children during the
course of the workshops It is
hoped that, following perfor-
mances in Blyth, the shows can
be taken on a short tour of the
area,. 'Anyone who would. be
interested in .hosting the show in
a park, campground or school is

the Sessions of Saskatchewan
Conference of the United Church
held in Saskatoon and assisted
with the Ordination Service on
Sunday, June 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Westcott
spent a week with her mother,
Mrs. Danby, returning home to
Weston last Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Ritchie of
St. Marys and Mr. and Mrs.
Carman Dale, Brenda, Joan,
Bruce and Daren, of near Clinton,
were Sunday visitors at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. George
Thornton.

to Rick McDonald, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Ken McDonald of Walton.
