Walton WI entertains 4-H girls

The President, Mrs. Bill
Humphries presided. The
meeting opened in the usual
man ner with Mrs, Laverne
Godkin as pianist. Mrs.
Humphries read a poem on the
4.1-1 National Creed.
Minutes were read by Mrs.
Ken McDonald. 23 members
answered the roll call followed by
the treasurer's report. The piano
has been tuned and is now in
good working order. The outside
of the hall is to be painted.
Tickets were drawn for the
delegates to attend the 80th
Anniversary of the F.W.4 at
Bingeman Park, Kitchener on
July 13. Mrs. Eleanor Liphard
and Mrs. Irene McCall will
attend.
The July meeting on July 20th
will be held at the home of Mrs.
Gerald Watson when guests from
Blyth, Londesboro and Seaf orth
Institutes will be invited. It will be
in the form of a picnic, with
members to bring a picnic lunch
and lawn chairs. Hostesses will
be Mrs. K. McDonald; Mrs.
EStevens; Mrs. Dave Watson
and Mrs. Earl Watson. A
committee was chosen to look
after sports.
It was voted to have a bake sale
on Saturday June 25th at Ben
Smith's garage sale at their store.
Institute members are requested
to bring at least two items.
There was more' discussion on
catering to a wedding in July with
seven groups responsible for
getting the food ready and one
convener from each group to take
it and help work.
Mrs. Humphries presented the
leaders Mrs. Elva Bolger and
Mrs.Annie Reid with a gift for
their leadership in the recent quilt
course.
The meeting was now turned
over to Mrs Ruth Axmann who
was assisted by Mrs. Marion
Godkin.
The 4-H girls, leaders and
mothers were welcomed. Chairs
for the evening were arranged in
the shape of a clover leaf in the
4-H pledge. Tags were.. given to
each one as they arrived and
signed their name to form three
different groups.
The girls answered questions
on "Do you know your rights?"
"Find Women's Institute History
in an Anagram" and "give
placings for suitable material for
pyjamas". The 4-H girls
participated at each of the tables.
The 4-H girls of Walton 1
"Lacy Ladies" put • on their
demonstration on selecting*
materials and patterns for leisure
wear, Commentators were
Margaret Shortreed, Karen
Midegaal and Karen Plas.
Walton II "Lounging Lassies"
had an exhibit on display, Variety
in Leisure wear with
commentators Laura Dennis and
Dianne Godkin,
Leaders for the clubs Were Mrs:
Liu Steffler, Miss Margaret
Shortreed; Mrs. Alberta Hudie
and Mrs. Eleanor' Liphard.
The girls had a fashion parade
of articles they had made in the
4.1-1 spring project, Clothes for
Leisure`',
Mrs, Axtmann and Mrs,
Oadkiti conducted games of bingo'
with' several people winning
prizes,

The Hemingway Reunion
was held at the Atwood Park on
June 19th with an attendance of
42. •
President James Axtmann,
Walton, conducted the business,
and called on Sec.Treas. Phyllis
Hemingway, Galt for minutes and
treasurer's report.
An in memorium and
moment's silence was conducted
in memory of Mrs. Hattie Bridle,
breads, cheese, tea and freshie
following the Institute Grace.

Miss Ann Watson has secured
a position at the C,IN. in Guelph,.
beginning . her new job last
Guelph.
The new officers will be Pres.
Alan Whytock, Teeswater. Vice
Pres. David Hemingway, Bay-
Sec.Treas. Phyllis Heming-
way, Sports Corn., David
Beatimont, Milverton and Lavern
Godkin, Walton.
It was decided to edit the
Hemingway News and to have the
reunion in Milverton Park in
1978, the second Sunday in July.
Mr. and Mrs.. Philip Dunk and.
David of Toronto spent a recent
weekend with his mother, Mrs.
Phyllis Dunk.
Mr. and Mrs. Torrance
Dundas; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mills
and Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Stevens
have returned . home from a
four-day bus trip to New York
State.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Currie and
Jamie, Brampton spent Saturday
night at the home of My. and Mrs.
Allan McCall prior to attending
the Mason picnic at Benmiller on
Sunday.
Mrs. Nelson Reid attended a
Tweedsrnuir training school while
Mrs. Jim Axtmann attended the
Public Relations Officers
workshop at Whitechurch one day
last week.
