United Church was held when
fourteen candidates • were
received into the fellowship of the
church during the Sunday
morning service.
The clerk of session, Graeme
Craig read out the names of the
following young people who came
_to the front of the church when
Rev. Ed. Baker conducted the
confirmation. They are: Nanci
Bennett; Laura Dennis; Dean
Hackwell; Jeffery Hackwell; Pam
Hackwell; Steven Huether; Bruce
Mann; Heather Mann; Carolyn
McClure; Jim McDonald; Bonnie
McKay; Ron smith; Terry Smith;
and Ruth Thamer.
Rev. Baker's sermon was
"Sing for Joy". Ushers for June:
Emerson Mitchell, Bill Coutts
and Laverne Godkin.

There was a good turnout of all •
units to the U.C.W. general
meeting on Wednesday evening
June 1st in the church basement.
Mrs. Rae Houston gave the
Call to Worship for devotion in
charge of the 8th & 16th • unit.
Rev. Baker sang a solo "Spirit of
God" accompanied by Debbie
Wey with her gititar. Mrs.
Houston took the scripture' from
Good. News for Modern Man
reading Matthew 11: 25-30. Mrs.
Jim Fritz gave the meditation,
"School Days for Young and
Old". Offering was received by
the treasurer, Mrs. Ken
McDonald and was dedicated by
Mrs. Houston. Hymn, "Lord
speak to me, that I may speak"
was sung accompanied by Mrs.
Neil McGavin at the piano;
followed by Mrs. Houston leading
in prayer.
Mrs. Nelson Reid introduced
the speaker, Hank Ten Pas of
Brussels who with his Wife and
other couples and men had gone
to Brazil to a remote section as
volunteers to build accommo-
dations for missionaries. He
showed some Most interesting
slides and his commentary on
their work was worth hearing
about. Brazil is one country we
haven't learned too much about,
but he said much of the jungle has
never been reached by white
man. This past spring Mt. Teri Pas • ma d e another trip along with other men back to Bolivia where
they had much rain, was badly
flooded in some areas. They Were
building homes for missionaries.
There were many questions asked,
answered by. Mr.. Ten Pas. Mrs.
Murray Dennis expressed her
thanks on behalf of the UC.W. for
Mr. Ten Pas coming and sharing
their experiences and giving
knowledge of Brazil and
presented him with a gift.
Mrs. Campell Wey presided for
business and minuteswereread by
Mrs. Herb Traviss. Mrs. Wey
reported an executive ..meeting
she had attended recently in
Blyth.
Sunday, June 26 will be World
Wide Communion. Rev. Baker
thanked the ladies that helped
clean the, manse the first couple of
days last week. A shower for
Shirley Johnston is se,.t for June
27th with the 17th and Boundary
Unit in charge. Mrs. Nelson
Marks asked that all tablecloths
are brought in for the upcoming
weddings.
The Seaforth Craft Festival for
July 9 was announced When
pamphlets were handed ottt.The
8th and 16th Unit are responsible
for hewers to be put in the church
for services in June.

POLLS open at 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (local
times) on Election Day, June 9th •
If your name.is on the New list of voters, you
are eligible to vote in this Ontario Provincial
Election. To make it as convenient as possible,
the polling places in each district are centrally
located in your area. An attempt has also
been made to make polling places as acces-
sible as possible for physically handicapped
and elderly voters. Check your proof of
enumeration, Form 103, for the address of
your polling place.
On the wall of each polling place, directions
for marking your ballot will be in plain view.
If you have any other questions, ask the
person who gives you your ballot Vote by
marking only the circle after the candidate's
name of your choide.
