"Arthritis Special" will be held on Friday evening, May 27 from. 7:"00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Arthritis Society Volunteers,: along with the Manager and. Staff of CKNX—TV have been busy planning this program for sometime now and talented performers will come from all over the CKNX Teleision viewing area to take part in what . would appear to be our most spectacual "Special" yet. The goal this year has been set for $18,000.00 and all monies pledged will be directed towards the Research Project conducted by Dr, Manfred Harth, University of Western 04tario, London. Dr, Harth is studying the effects of Gold Salts in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis patients. Dr. Duncan Gordon, Direcctor of Rheumatic Diseases Unit, Toronto Western Hospital, will again be taking part in the Special, discussing the problems faced by the arthritic, as well as the treatment program. Dr. Gordon will also be available to answer questions from the viewing audience as time permits. Many people still' believe arthritis is an old people's disease and do not realize that children, even infants, also get arthritis and since juvenile rheurnatoic arthritis is a degenerative joint disease, damage to the joint can be much more severe in a child, since their joints are not fully developed. Appearing on this year's Special will be Mark Stuart from Owen SOund, who has been afflicted; iipinn.WMFAMMO.Manenaaff4.11 STAG for K:•• sS I Ross Mitchell Sat., May 28 girlanSWORNMERMgy'ln:Ksaigil The COUNTRY LOUNGE Is Now Newly Licenced.
