The former clerk's letter of/ resignation, dated Thursday, May 5. and read to council by the reeve reads: "In response to y our resolution. of Monday night, requesting my dismissal, I hereby submit my resignation. Although I find it difficult to believe that I have been guilty of . a very-serious error by sh owing my compassion for a fellow worker, I realize that to continue without the support of a stable council' would be impossible," .Yours very truly, William H, King." Reeve Krauter said he hadn't checked with a lawyer on the legality of council's motion, which was made in private, without a vote to go into committee of the whole, and was not reported back to a full council session until. The Presbytery heard Rev. Moses Lupupa, a Roman Catholic priest from Swaziland, describe his work in a parish about the size of ' the . whole Presbytery. Local elders assist him. He- is studying. at The Divine Word Centre in London for one year. He - described some sad conditions and told of the death of a child when a .white doctor. .refused to treat him because he had a. Roman Catholic medal around his neck. He stated that his people are trying to find a. non-violent. solution to the apartheid problems and requested prayers. Rev. Joseph Driskill. newly appointed - United Church Chaplain to the University of Western Ontario also spoke to the court. He outlined the work done by the seven chaplains. Their headquarters are in the central University -Community Centre. Activities for the 25,000 people include worship, counselling, working to develop community feeling and "Mothers Morning Out" - for wives of students (nearby U.C.W. members babysit while they meet). Mr. Driskill asked members of Presbytery -to let him know of their students. They will receive a letter outlining possibilities and inviting them to drop. in. Queen Elizabeth learned much protocol from her grandmother, Queen Mary, including strict discipline and proper devotion to duty, She is 'expected to make tours of the countries of the Commonwealth as well as to make two Parliamentary speeches each year; to know about state probleins and issues related to the Commonwealth. As head of the church of England, she radiates a life of Christian principles. and encourages a compatible family relationship. Her hobbies are music, theatre, reading and family parties. The Queen rises early each day, Usually works the Crossword Puzzle, talks to her family and then procedes to her desk which is covered with a multitude of Mail to which she must attend. Her style and smile Mrs. Cliff Bray Correspondent A bridal shower was held at the home of Mrs. Bert Godden, in honor of Mary Lynne Cardiff of 'Brussels on Friday night. After a short program conducted by Mrs. Doug Evans and girls, a delicious lunch was served. Assisting were Mr.s Robt Cunningham, Mrs. Geo Pearson and' Mrs. Doug Evans. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Smith and family of Elmira spen the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dobson and family. Miss Penny Godden and friend of Shelburne, visited for a strort , while with her grandmother Mrs. Bert Godden on Sunday. Mrs. Bert Godden and Bonnie enjoyed Mothers Day dinner with Gary and Ruthanne Godden in Listowel. Queen's life portray a very gracious Queen of whom we are proud, Mrs. Crocker said, The June meeting will be held in the lounge of Maple Villa. Wardlaw of Toronto, Susan Wardlaw and Mr. and Mrs. Betty Craftchick of Brantford spent the weekend with Mrs. Douglas Wardlaw. Mr. and Mrs, Elwin Hall and girls of Owen Sound visited with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hall on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilbee of Manitoba are visiting with Mrs. Russel Wilbee in - Seaforth Hospital and Mr: Russel Wilbee in Wingharn hospital and relatives.
