the difference between the
federal support payment and the
provincial support payment.
Provincial agriculture Minister
William Newman has announced
that for the Ontario program, the
support level for 1977 is 51.5
cents per lb. and the premium is
$8 per cow.
The exact support price in the
federal program will probably not
be announced until the end of the
year. However, it will likely be 90
per cent of the previous five year
average adjusted.lor changes in
cash costs of producfion.
In each program calf prices will
be monitored during September,
October, November and
DeCember to determine the
national and the provincial
,weighted average calf price.
There is no minimum and- no
maximum number of eligible
cows' in the Ontario program. In
the federal program there is a
deductible for 5 cows and a
maximum of 100 cows. This
means a producer with 100 cows
will be eligible for Payment on 95
while a producer with 30 cows will
be eligible for payment on 25.,'
In the Ontario program per cow
payments will be based on, a 450
lb. calf and assuming a calf crop
of 85 per cent. In the Federal
program. per cow payment will be
based on a 450 lb. calf and
assuming 85 per cent calf crop
and 15 per cent replacement rate.
