we're here, he said.
The President said he'd like
to see members of the BBA
mention that they belong in their
regular ads.
Herb Stretton, gave his report
on the attempt to get a druggist
for Brussels. Mr. Stretton said
the druggist had been on holidays
but he is to get in touch with him
as soon as possible.
Mr. Webster told members he
approached council about cross-
walk signs in town. Some kid
coming from school or just
crossing the street is going to get
killed the way the trucks come
over the hill .and down main
streets, he said. The members
agreed on this.
Kids are leaving their bikes on
the sidewalks and people are
tripping over them. They also are
riding on the sidewalks, members
complained. Mr. Webster is to
get in touch with. Ken. Scott BPS
principal about this.
The president suggested that
when lines are pointed ones the
street this year they paint two
double lines and the wor d school
at four corners.
The Elgin Night Riders were
booked for the BBA's. Christmas
dance.
The Rodeo committee hasn't
decided on a date yet. Members
agreed to sponsor trophies for
events. Lloyd Mayer said he'd do
the engraving free of charge if
trophies were gotten there.

A sidewalk sale was suggested
on the main street Mr. Watts said
also the National Executive
meeting of the car club will be
held in the library on the Saturday
of —the rally. Anyone with
suggestions on what to do or have
on this weekend can get in touch
with Ken Webster.
The village is also invited to
Suggestions were read from
suggestionboxes around town
when the BBA met last
Wednesday night.
Brussels Business Association
suggestions included better
protection from police on
weekends and late at night; and
names for the streets. Ken
Webster,BBA president said he
has already appraoched a club in
town to see if this can be done by
them.
Business men park their cars in
the parking lot and people who
shop cannot find places to park on
main street, another suggestion
said.
The Logo for Brussels was
again discussed. The village
decided to keep Brussels the
Prettiest Village as their theme.
Mr. Webster said CKNX was
around about advertising on T.V.
and asked how many were
interested. He said he'd also like

OPP lay
theft
charges
During the week of May 2 to
May 8, Officers at Wingham
Detachement conducted Thirty
Five investigations.
11 charges were laid under the
Highwlay Traffic Act and fifty four
warnings were issued.
Ten charges were laid under
the Liquor Licence Act.
Fourteen charges were laid
under the Criminal Code.
During the week, one motor
vehicle collision occurred which
caused $2000.00 damage. The
collision, on Huron county Road
#28 at Con. 10-11 Howick Twp.
resulted in a minor injury to
Frederich J. Litt, Clifford, Ont.
A total of eleven criminal code
charges were laid during the past,
week as a result of the Breaking
and Entering of private homes in
Howick Twp during the last week
of April. The charges included.
Break Enter and Theft,16reak and
Enter with Intent to cOmmitt an
inditable Offence and Theft under
$200.00. The charges were laid
against Egbert Wayne Sanderson
and Raymond Terry Sanderson of
RR#1, Fordwich Murray Alan
Schumacher, Gorrie and John
Dwayne Bolander of RR#1,
Wroxeter.
During the past month, 28
persons were charged with liquor
offences in Wingham O.P.P. area,
the bulk of them over the past
week. That would represent
almost $1500.00 in fines. As
usual, almost all of the offenders
were teenagers, the same age
group who historically have been
the sad victims of fatal car
crashes in this area. Perhaps,the
parents should be taking a
stronger, more arbitrary position.
In many cases, the parents own
the car or have it in their name for
insurance purposes. That should
create some leverage to forbid the
kids drinking and driving.
