Ontario playwrights and offering regional audiences an opportunity to partake of theatrical experiences the Blyth Summer Festival's 1977 summer program will include two original Canadian plays written especially for the Festival, a new adaptation of Harry J. Boyle's, A Summer Burning, and, a revival of last year's smash success, The Blood Is Strong, by ,Canadian author Lister Sinclair. Opening the season July 1 , is Harry J. Boyle's A Summer Burning. Boyle, born and raised near Blyth, and currently chairman of the CRTC, has written many novels about his rural roots. This story is - about a farm family who take in a budding city hoodlum during the summer of '27. The play is a study of tolerance in rural family life, its effect on the city boy, on the family's own son and the community in which they live. Opening July 4, is the musical adaptation of Lister Sinclair's The Blood Is Strong. This humorous and touching comedy reveals the joys and heartbreaks of early Scottish Settlers in Canada, - bravely confronting bears, Indians and young love. 1977 is Centennial Year at Blyth. In order to celebrate it, Festival writer and actor, Jim, For the first time in Huron County, a hotel owner who failed to make his employees comply with hair restraint regulations se t down in the Public Health. Act has been convicted in Provincial court. The conviction came in Wingham last Wednesday, according to, a spokesman for the Huron County Health Unit in Goderich. Art Kauk, owner of the Manor Hotel in Wingham, was fined a total of $500 for two violations of Food Premises regulations of the Provincial Health Act. A fine of $200 was assessed for the hair restraint violation. A Schaefer has mitten The Blyth Memorial History Show which opens July 27. This series of vignettes portrays a rural Ontario village from 1633 through pioneering, settlement and railroading. As he says, "It's, a patchwork quilt of tall-tales, silly songs, a few true blue facts arid a bear named Beatrice." The fourth show, opening August 9, entitled. The Shortest Distance Between Two Points, has been written by Keith Roulston, .publisher of The Village Squire magazine and. All Proceeds to Arena Fund Hotel owner fined on health r=egulations second charge stemming from Health Unit findings of excessively high bacteria levels on drinking glasses brought a fine of $300. The hotel owner pleaded guilty on both counts at the April 27 court appearance, reversing a plea of not guilty entered at a March 30 sitting of the court. Two other charges brought against Mr. Kauk by the Health Unit stemming from sub-standard washroom cleanliness and a lack of soap and paper towels in the washrooms, were withdrawn. The Health Unit spokesman said the conviction did not indicate a move to toughen the enforcement of food premises regulations. He said court proceedings are a last resort, used only when repeated attempts to force compliance with the regulations have failed. Rev.
