A surprise party was well
attended at Bluevale Community
Hall, Saturday evening, April 30,
when Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walker
were honored on their 25th
wedding anniversary. Dancing
was enjoyed to the music of
Tiffin's Orchestra and a delicious
lunch was provided by the
families of the couple.

redesigned amateur canoe glided
into a first place finish.

paddled to second place finish in
the Expert Class.
Murray and, Jerry Bremner of
Brussels after crashing into a
rock, sinking and breaking a
paddle managed to get afloat and
catch the second and third place
canoes about 1/4 mi. from the
finish from a third. 15 second
separated 2nd, 3rd & 4th place in
that advanced amateur class.

coaching rules
The coach or coaches of any
given team has first chance of
coaching that same team the
following year or any year there-
after, the Walton Area Sports
Club decided at their April 25
meeting. Lavern Godkin chaired
the meeting which was held at the
home of Dave Collins last
Wednesday.
The following teams will play in
the Walton park this summer:
Sat. morning house-league
(T-ball) coached by Rick
McDonald, W. Humphries;
Squirts - Lavern Godkin, Roy
Gingerich; Pee Wees - Joe
Steftier, Gary Bennett; Girls -
Dianne Bennett.
There will also be two slow-
pitch ladies teams and an
Intermediate Men's team.
gquipment is to be purchased for
the house-league.
A motion was made that a
home team playing an exhibition
game be charged $2. per hour for
the use of the lights and no
charge for the park in daytime.
Teams will keep collection and
look after their own umpires. The
cost of lights used in a tourna-
ment will be $2. per hour.
Stone dust is to be ordered for
the park and the grass is to be
rolled. A motion was made that
the fence be ordered and
installed.
The booth will be operated by
members of the Walton Area
Sports Club on a rotation basis.
The next meeting is to be held
at the home of Neil McGavin on
June 6.
There was excellent weather on
Sunday May 1 for the 10th annual
Bunny Bundle Canoe R ace from
St. Marys to London. About 600
participants paddled the 28 mi.
