That's right, I almost forgot one of the most dedicated groups in the school, the School Page. The editing of the Madill Mirror requires a lot of time and talent on behalf of all involved. Belonging to this club is an excellent experience, especially if you are interested in pursuing a career in journalism. Joan Leishman is the very capable editor, and Mary Anne ton is the equally capable ssistant editor. These two eserve a lot of credit. Mr. amsma serves as the staff dvisor, and has helpful advice as ell as a censor's talents when hey are needed. Anyone who has tried to create a "literary work" on short notice can imagine how difficult it is to come up with a. new and interesting article each week. When a reporter hands in an article, it is not time to .sit down and rest, but rather to start thinking about the next week's article. I hope this article does not seem biased. I just think the readers of this page should realize the time and care that goes into its creation. Without a doubt, the standard of content is very high: Whether the. Madill. I believe that when maintaining a life means prolonging suffering for hopeless cases, causing emotional and financial stress to the family, there is little purpose in it. This brings us to the inevitable question, "At what point should doctors cease their fight for life?" Physicians must take an oath. This oath in short states that they must do every- thing within their power to maintain life. With the complex medical equipment of today, hearts can be pumped and lungs ventilated artificially. The course mentioned above involves, in part, studying urban development of various towns and cities in the area. Kitchener is a very unique city in a number of ways. The main street of Kitchener is very long. The students were paired off and then distributed along various points—on King, which is Kitchener's main drag. Each pair of students was responsible for about 2 city streets, Using maps, or making them if they were not available they were to note any changes in land use along their territory. Also, at two specified times, traffic and pedestrian counts were taken. By 11:15 a.m. all students were to meet at the bus terminal for their pick-up. Some students took the city bus and others walked. The girls were always prompt. It was a number of guys who delayed the bus. After boarding the buss it was down to Fairview Mall for lunch and a short shopping spree. It was the guys that were last to board the bus again. Kitchener has a very large Industrial Park. It has been one of the most successful cities in Canada for attracting industry. The park is located .3 or 4 ,miles from the 401. The area is all kept alive, completely through the usp of machines. There is no hope for their recovery. They are vegetables unable to respond, think or feel. Are they really alive? Are we simply playing with life, at the expense and pain of others? Could the equipment, money and staff required in hopeless cases, be put to better use in saving the lives, (directly or through research) of those who have hope of recovery? I appeal to . your sense of humanity and love for your fellow man. Should we not let these people die in peace?) leave you with this question. After a tiring but enjoyable trip the students arrived back at school by 4:15 p.m. The studies made will be put together and evaluated in class. Georgraphy 341 Field Trip • (By Cheryl Haldenby 12C) On Tuesday, April 26, seventy-three students went to London under the 'direction of Mr. Cardy. The purpose of this field trip was to examine some of the Urban Land use types within the city of London. The students were given a workbook to complete during the course of the field trip. Their first task was on the way to the University of Western Ontario. The students were to notice the transition from rural environment quickly into the city environment and also some of the very high class houses located on the higher land overlooking London. Labatt's mansion was particularly drawn to their attention. As the students passed these places they would answer a number of questions given to them by their teacher, Mr. Cardy. Next, they went to the Univer- sity of Western Ontario where various buildings and types of land were described by the instructor. Then the bus travelled on to the suburban area of the city on the block of Huron Street, Adelaide Street and Kipp's Lane, This is a relatively new type of land use in the- cities and the students along with a lot of Geographers- and City Planners found a lot of favour in it. The student's first stop was the Shopping plazas in London. After the students had done their evaluation of the plazas, they had lunch and were given the opportunity to do a little Your will assures that what you leave - goes where you want The way to make sure your assets are distri- buted as you want, is to make a will.
