BRUSSELS POST, APRIL 27, 1977 —23 Walton- WI turkey '.supper Correspondent Mrs. Betty McCall 887-6677 Institute Grace preceded the turkey supper at the Walton Inn ,hen the Walton women's nstitute held their annual ieeting on Wednesday evening, Aril 20th. 29 members sat down o the meal, Mrs, Don McDonald expressed er thanks on behalf of the nstitute to hosts Mr. and Mrs. 0, Jones and to waitresses, Skits on Ralph and Joyce Burtt, ew Brunswick born missionaries n -their second trip to the hillippines, telling of their evolvement, teaching how to run o•operatives. and on the Easter tory, capably arranged by Mrs. Nelson Reid assisted with Mrs. arold Bolger and Mrs. Gerald Watson taking parts were ighlights when the Walton Unit f the U.C. W. held their April meeting in the basement of Duff's Mr, and Mrs. Howard ackwell and Dean visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. arold Highton and Paul of Barrie. Friends and neighbors of illiam Murray in the Walton area will be glad to know he was Me to leave hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Murray have moved to russels to the former William Cardiff home. Members of the Brussels. Horticulture Society who attended District 8 annual meeting and dinner at Auburn Community Centre on Saturday vere Mr, and Mrs. Carl Hemingway , Mrs. Doug. Hemingway; Mrs. Bert Margaret Shortreed and. Donna Reid. The meeting was held at the community hall when Mrs. Kathy Achilles presided for the business. Minutes were approved as read by Mrs: Ken McDonald, followed by the correspondence treasurer's report. A donation was voted to Brussels Fair Board. Mrs. Don McDonald reported on the bus trip to the new Eaton's Centre in Toronto later in May. United church on Wednesday evening. Devotions were opened with a poem by Mrs. G. Watson. H ymn "Jesus Christ is Risen:oday" was sung with Mrs. Ray Huether as pianist. Mrs. Watson ,took the scripture reading from 1st Corrin- th ians . 37-44 followed by the meditation. "The Facts and Mystery". Mrs. N. Reid conducted a Bible Quiz. Hymn, „"In Christ there is Money for tickets to be hi to Mrs. M cDonald before May 7. Summary Day for quilt course to be announced as soon as possible. Mrs., Bill Humphries made presentations of a gift to Mrs. Edna McDonald, a former member who was unable to be present, also to Mrs. Katy Achilles retiring president of the past two years. The District Annual to be held. no East or West" was sung. Mrs. Frank Kirkby gave a reading, "The Open Door" followed by prayer. Business was conducted by Mrs. Ron Bennett opening with a poem on "Easter". Mrs.Howard Hackwell read the minutes which were apprOved. Roll call was answered by 20 ladies. Cards of thanks were read. Mrs. Mac Sholdice gave the financial report. Current events of interest were discussed. Members were reminded of the U.C.W. bale to be packed, articles to be left in the basement no later than May 22. Mrs. Joanne Clark who works at the Senior Retarded Centre in Wingham asked for old catalogues, in agazines and used cards, also handles of Javex bottles or similar. type. Meeting was closed with prayer by Mrs. Ron Bennett. Grace was sung, lunch was served by hostesses, Mrs. Ray Huether, Mrs. 'Earl Watson and Mrs. Gerald Watson. on Tuesday, May 10 at Moncrief, registration at 9:30 a, m. Delegates are Mrs. 'Kathy Achilles, Mrs. Jim Axtmann, Mrs. Harvey Craig and Mrs. Bill Humphries. Used stamps are to be taken to this meeting. Roll call was payment of $1.50 fee and sunshine sisters were revealed with gift exchange. The annual meeting followed. The new hall board committee will be Mrs. Bill Humphries, Mrs. Ken McDonald, Mrs. Herb Traviss, Mrs.T. Liphard. and Mrs. Alvin McDonald. Date set to plan new programs for the coming year is. Monday evening May 2 at 8 P.M. at the hall. Report of standing committees were given by Mrs, Mac Sholdice for Agriculture and Canadian Industry, Mrs. Frank Kirkby for Citizenship and World Affairs; Mrs. Gerald Watson for Family and Consumer Affairs; Mrs. Harold Hudie for Education and Cultural Activities; Mrs. Ken McDonald for Resolutions. Sunshine Mrs. Torrence Dundas; 4-H Co-ordinator Mrs. Stewart Humphries; R.P.O. Mrs. Don McDonald; Curator Mrs. Nelson Reid. All reports were seconded by Mrs. Herb Traviss. Auditors report was given by Mrs. S. Humphries. Those with perfect attendance were Mrs. Nelson Marks, Mrs. Torrance Dundas, Mrs. Ernie Stevens, Mrs. K. M cDonald and Mrs, Allan McCall. The new officers for the coming year were installed. Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor and sons Manny and Danny of Brownsville , Texas, have returned after spending the winter there to his farm in ? McKillop Township. It is good to hear that Mrs. Broadfoot has been released from hospital and is at present with Mr. and Mrs. John Henderson, R.R.#5, Seaforth. Her many friends hope she is soon back in her own home. Mission Band will be held this coming Sunday, due to Mother's Day and Baptismal on the second Sunday, their usual date.
