The township council should be encouraged to improve drainage in McKillop, one comment read. Township federation directors should hold office for a maximum of six consecutive terms, meet- ings should be publicized and the local."federation should hold a meeting on the proposed Ontafio tax reforms. Some McKillop farmers were disappointed with the OFA "backing out of the fight over hydro corridors from Bradley Junction to Seaforth," the survey results noted. Among the suggestions that McKillop farmers had for the Ontario Federation were: - define a farmer and only those who qualify would receive benefits 'on taxes, grants and income tax. - milk producers' should have one pool. - assess OFA membership to land. - oppose tax reform as recommended. - push the need for income protection and - duty on all imports of all products - stabilize prices at realistic level and - pay more to get good leadership. Morris Farmers in . Morris want the Federation to pressure the township council to provide more adequate drainage and outlets. County federation meetings should be more interesting, to get more farmers out, it was suggested. Morris farmers expressed concern ..about government beef programs, calling for a beef marketing board to negotiate border, controls and for more information about cow-calf programs. The capital gains tax should be changed so that it doesn't discriminate against couples and partnerships and a program of farm help for sick and disabled farmers and those needing a vacation were suggested. Ontario and Canadian products should be labeled so that the consumer can distinguish them from imports, another suggestion from Morris read. Hullett • Hullett township respondents thought the township federation should keep in close touch with the county and provincial groups on local concerns, It was suggested that drainage outled in the township could be restricted due to flooding at the Hullett Conservation Area and that the township federation should look into the problem. Another farmer suggested that the local federation be "more concerned about social events in rural areas.." At the county level, there 'was a The Brussels 4-H Beef * Club held its first meeting at the Brussels Library on April 12. The election of officers was held.
