grant for arena construction.
About 30 names have been
submitted for a memorial plaque
in the new arena and there is a
potential of at least 50 names,
Mr. Prior reported.
The arena committee may ask
major clubs in Brussels to sign
pledges, over three years, for
some of the arena money that is
still to- be raised, Mr. Prior said.
The pledges would be matched by
Wintario grants.
Zoo has
blessed
event
The staff of Metro Toronto Zoo
are happy to announce the birth'
of a white-handed gibbon in the
Indo-Malayan pavilion.
Derek and Priscilla, the
parents, are doing well.
But the zoo staff is a little
concerned about baby Senin (Thai
word for Monday, the day of her
birth).
Mother Priscilla has a history of
indifferent maternal care. She has
lost several offspring for a variety
of reasons, mostly of neglect.
For this reason, the latest
arrival, Senin, was taken from her
within hours of her birth and
given intensive care for. the first
12 days of her life.
After a tricky first month, Setiiii I
began to thrive and, according to I
Health Unit foreman John flulley,
is now prepared to "receive a few
visitors."
Gibbons are native to indo-
Malaya. They are net yet I
endangered, although gibbon I
births in zoos are still rare

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Woods of

Voice for Life official
An executive meeting of
the Wingham Voice for Life group
was held at the home of Adrian.

presented a report of a meeting of
Nurses for Life held recently in
London when Dr. J. E. Patrick
FRCS (C) showed video tapes of
ultra sound pictures of the fetal
heart and breathing patterns at
various gestational ages. At 6
weeks is noted that the beat

mother and while the mother
sleeps' There all kinds of
activities before the fetus is 3
months old. It breathes fluid-fetal
lung is not dry for 4-6 hours after
birth.

On Saturday, March 26, Bruce
Haslegrove of RR 4, Wingham
was northbound on Highway #4
when a cattlebeast owned by
Glenn Coultes ran in front of his
yehicle and was killed. Carol
Wattan of Listowel, a passenger
in his vehicle, received minor
injures, as a result of the
collision.
Seven cattlebeasts were struck
and killed, or later destroyed in
three separate accidents around
midnight, Friday, March 25. on
Highway #4, north of Belgrave.
The owner, Glenn Coultes,
estimates loss at $2800.00,

James Johnston.
At the meeting, presided

plans were discussed for
