The Walton Women's Institute
met in the community hall on
Wednesday evening with 22
members present.
The business was conducted by
Mrs. Bill. Humphries, 1st vice
president, in the absence of. the
president, Mrs. Kathy Achilles.
Minutes were read by Mrs. Ken
McDonald. Mrs. L. Godkin was at
the piano. The roll call was
"What I have learned from
someone of another country,"
The senior training courses
selected "Bedroom & Bath
Accessories" as first choice, with
"Needlepoint and creative
The McKillop Unit met at the
church Wednesday aft ernoon
with 10 members present.
Mrs. J. Burch presided for
devotions, the theme "God as the
Oppressed" also read Isaiah 53 ,
1-3. The hymn "Onward
Christian People" was sung.
Mrs.Mrs. M. Hackwell as pianist
followed by Mrs. D. Dennis
giving the prayer. Mrs. M.
Dennis read the Scripture from
Luke 1, 39-56. Mrs. Burch gave
the Meditation followed by a
discussion also gave a reading on
"Easter Thoughts".
Mrs. N. Schade had the topic
giving an interesting talk on the
life of Pat Boone. Mrs. M.
Hackwell took the offering which
was dedicated by Mrs. Burch.
Hymn, "When I Survey the
Wondrous Cross" was sung.

Miss Jane Pengilley, Home
Economist for Huron, is being
transferred to Wellington County
and members indicated regret at
her departure.
Mrs. Maluske, president of
indicated projects
coming up. Members were
reminded to save stamps (no
Kings or Queens heads) which
are to be floated off in water
carefully dried and packaged in
groups of 25 in plastic envelopes.
Mrs. Allan McCall gave a
repOsrt of the Huron East District
executive meeting attended on
February 21 aT' Molesworth at
business thanking everyone who
had taken, part in devotions and
read a few thoughts of St.
Patrick's Day. Minutes were read
by Mrs. G. McNichol followed by
roll call which was answered by
song or custom of St. Patrick's
day. Mrs. Hackwell gave the
treasurers report and closed the
meeting with prayer.
Lunch was served by Mrs. G.
Love Jr. and Mrs. G. McNichol.
The W.I. St. Patrick euchre was
held in the Walton Community
Hall on Tuesday evening, March
15 with eleven tables of euchre in
play.
Prize winners were: High lady •
- Mrs. Jack Simpson, Brussels;
low lady - Mrs. Lawrence Ryan;
High gent - Harold Bolger; Low -
Neil Mitchell. Lucky chair with
shamrock - Mrs. Elsie Evans,
Mrs. W, Smith's home, to plan
the District Annual which will be
held in Moncrief on May 10, It
was agreed to have programs for
the coming year in a booklet form
which will include each branch of
Huron East. Miss Helen
McKercher will be the guest
speaker.
Mrs. Bill Humphries brought in
the slate of officers for the coming
year and these to be installed at
the annual meeting which will be
the Sunshine Sisters Banquet.
The institute will have supper at
the Walton Inn on April 20.
There will be three more card
parties this season with the
committee for March 29 to
include Mrs. H. Hudie, Mrs. D.
Liphard, Mrs. M. Sholdice and
Mrs. H. Plaas, for April 12, Mrs.
Graeme Craig, Mrs. James
Axtmann, Mrs. Laverne Godkin
and Mrs. Bill Humphries. The
last euchre of the season will be a
dessert euchre on April 26, with a
committee of Mrs. Ken
McDonald, Mrs. Nelson • Marks,
Mrs. Stewart Humphries and
Mrs. Gerald Watson.
Delegates to attend the District
Annual will be Mrs. Bill
Humphries, Mrs. Harvey Craig,
Mrs. Kathy Achilles and Mrs.
Ruth Axtmann.
The meeting was turned over to
Mrs. H. Craig, convenor for
Citizenship and World Affairs.

There will be another euchre
next Tuesday, when those in
charge will be Mrs. Harold

Plaas.

Craig.
Mrs. Harriett Boon, who
resides on the third concession of
Grey Township, near Jamestown,
was guest speaker and demon-
strated her talent with wool
making with the spinning wheel.
She showed how the spindel.
works to make the yarn into the
wool, the different stages of yarn
and the natural dye yarn of many
colors. She had a wonderful
display of articles on display that
had been made from her own
product, ,
Mrs. Harvey Craig .thanked her
and presented a gift on behalf of
the Institute.
Lunch was' served by Mrs.
Graeme Craig, Mrs. Harold
Bolger, Mrs. Harvey Craig and
Mrs. Neil McGavin.

Misses Kim Humphries and
Kim. Sinclair of Windsor, nurses
in training at Victoria Hospital,
London spent a recent weekend at
the home of the fortnetsparems,
Mr. andMrs.Stewart Humphries,
Mr. and Mrs, Nelson Reid and
Mrs. Edna Hackwell were Sunday
evening supper guests with Mr.
and Mrs. John McLlwain of
Seaforth.
Lester Machan of Toronto
spent the weekend with his
mother, Mrs. Frank Kirkby.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Searle have
returned home from a two-week
motor trip to Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coutts,
Walton and Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Cameron, Sarnia have arrived
home from a four week holiday in
Florida.
The Quilt Course will meet
again this Thursday evening, A
quilt is being made from blocks
made by each member and tickets
are going to be sold.
