Institute will be held Wednesday, March 16 in the IP Correspondent Mrs. Betty McCall 887-6677 World Day of Prayer service was held at Duff's United. Church, Walton, Friday afternoon March 4. Christian women of, the German Democratic Republic prepared the World Day of Prayer for 1977 on the theme, Love in Action. They sent warm greetings to all who belong to the family of God around the work who united on March 4. God has shown us what our 'togetherness" (fellowship) should be. Jesus Christ has shown us how our `togetherness' can be realized, and thrOugh the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to translate love into action, the service said. Taking part in the World Day of Prayer service were Mrs. Campbell Wey, Mrs. Rae Houston and Mrs. Allan McCall. The Bible reading was taken from l John 4:7-21. Mrs. Neil McGavin was pianist for the hymns. Rev. Ed Baker spoke on the them, "love in Action" and was thanked by Mrs. Walter Bewley. The offering was received by Mrs. Ken McDonald, dedicated by Mrs. Wey concluding with the repeating of the Lord's Prayer in unison. Following the closing hymn, "Blest be the tie that binds," Rev. Baker closed with prayer. Personals Obituary MAE SKELTON At her home on William Street in Brussels on Sunday, February 27, 1977 Mae Angelina. Skelton died suddenly. She was the daughter of Robert and Lavina Skelton and was born in Morris Township. After receiving her early education in Brussels, she attended normal school in Stra tford and received her teacher's diploma there. Her teaching appointments in Morris Township, Wiarton, Haileybury and Longbranch made her many lasting friends. She retired to-Brussels 13 years ago and during this time has served on the United Church Board as an elder, as organizer for the Save The Children fund in this district, a member of the Horticultural Society, the Women's Institute and an active member of the U.C.W. and Canadian Bible Society. She was a kind, sympathetic Christian lady who will be missed. Many remember Miss Skelton as a leader of the C.G.I.T., and a Sunday School teacher and her example of the Christian way of life has been an inspiration to many, She is survived by several cousins. Funeral service was held at the M.L. Watts Funeral Home on Wednesday at 1:30 o'clock conducted by her minister Rev. E.LeDrew. It is good to hear Torrance Dundas returned home from Seaforth Community Hospital on Sunday. He was a patient there following surgery last Thursday. His friends wish him a successful recovery. Mrs. John Henderson and Dianne of Seaforth visited Sunday Lots of interest in quilt course There was great interest in the course on "Quilts" sponsored by the Walton W.I. when over 30 ladies of the community attended the first meeting, on Wednesday evening March 2, in the Walton Community Hall. The leaders are Mrs. Nelson Reid and. Mrs. Harold Bolger. The next meeting is to be held Thursday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. with Mrs. Jean Broadfoot. Mr. and Mrs. Scott McTaggart and family of London visited with Mrs. Jean Miller Sunday evening. MARRIED 50 YEARS— Mr. and Mrs. Roy B. • Cousins of Brussels will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on March 16, at their winter home at 131 Doolen. Court, Apt. 307D, North Palm Beach, Florida. Prizes were given to winners, High Lady-Mrs. Sadie. McDonald; low lady-Mrs. Ethel Long; High Man-Frank Kirkby; low man-Harold Bolger. Most zeros on cards-Mrs. Jean Miller. Lunch was provided by the Women's Institute with hostesses, Mrs. Kathy Achilles, Mrs. Marjory Humphries, Mrs. Eva Gordon and Mrs. Margaret Craig. The next euchre will be held in two weeks, on Tuesday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m. mine tables
