congregation,' a .very common disease among many preachers
today. When the point is directed to' the eater, then the obvious
inference is that the minister hits home when he preaches.
It seems to me that some research should be done on this
problem, particularly from an historical point of view. Could not
the Toronto School of Theology take the matter up, perhaps
establishing a centre for the study of the matter? It might be
possible then to have a new dimension added to the church
history courses, which Dr. Fowler should be required to audit. It
would be interesting to discover'how pies pointed in 18th century
Scotland when some sermons were described as "cold moral
essays, read to cold but not too moral congregations." The
centre could be called "The Centre for the Demythologization of
Pie Pointing" or better still "for the Demythologization of
Piety." Perhaps Canada Council would fund it.
Just one more thing:- 1 always had the ladies in my
congregations point the pies at the eaters. I just thought you
would like to know.

No break has yet occurred in
the case of Ivan Wheeler, a. 27
Year old. Belgrave native and
London cab driver who was found
dead in his cab with a bullet
wound in the back 'of his head in
North East London late last week.
Police are treating the case as a
homicide.
Mr. Wheeler, A U-Need-a-Cab
driver, was last seen alive at
9:45 P.M. Thursday, February
17, when he left Thamesville to
return,. toLondon. He was seen
slouched behind the wheel of his
cab at 11:10 p.m. in the •parking
lot off thelilglibury Raquets .Club
at 1100 Highbury Avenue. It is
not known whether he was dead
at that time. The body was found
at 5:20 a.m. by a constable
checking on the parked cab.
The initial investigation
discounted robbery as a motive in
the shooting. A money changer
was still attached to the dash and
a briefcase was found on the front
seat of the car.
Police are trying to discover
what occurred between the time
of Mr. Wheeler's appearance in
Thamesville and the time when
he was first seen at the Raquets
Club. Police would not say what
the cab" driver had been doing in
Thamesville, east of Chatham,
about 50 miles from London.

Wheeler did not take any calls
from the cab company after he

gating the possibility that he may
have picked up a flitch-hiker and
returned from Thamesville along
highway 401.
The bullet wound which killed
Mr. Wheeler was discovered
after the body was taken to
&Joseph's Hospital in. London
for examination. No weapon was
found at the scene.
The death was the second to
strike the Wheeler family in
recent months . In September,
Ivan Wheeler's sister, Mrs, Mary
Ann Makas, 22, of London, was
killed in a car accident near
Exeter. The two were the only
children of Mr. and Mrs. Ken
Wheeler of the Belgrave area,'
The parents are appealing for
anyone who may have any
information in the case to come
forward.
Ivan Wheeler had been living
in London with his brother-in-law,
Vincent Makas, since his' sister's
death.

Elmer Bruce, Vincent Makas and
Don Rae.
