Topic: Women and the Law (Part 11) * Consumer Law; Bob Pearson was the master of ceremonies for the Brussels Public School Christmas Concert. He was introduced by Jill McCutcheon, Vicki Leis and Patricia Haveman. The grade 5 and 6 choir started the concert with a song entitled "Christ Was Born on Christmas Day.". Then came Miss Livermore and the Kindergarten Puppies. The Puppies growled their way through two rythmn band songs. They were "Jolly,Jolly Santa Claus" and "the Fat, Fat Man." After they sang their songs, they introduced themselves. While they were performing, Mrs. Huether and her grade 2 class got ready to put on their version of "The Wedding of Jack and Jill". "Jack" was Darwin Rose, and "Jill" was Donna Campbell. They sang songs and did a square dance. The Kindergarten Kittens then. presented "The Whiter Time.'' They had kittens dressed as snowmen for an extra effect. , The grade class spent a lot of time practising their part of the concert to make it perfect. Bradley Campbell played the part of Mr. Peckersniff. Mr. Prior and Mrs. Cousins presented a hilarious excerpt from "Columbas Discovered America". The audience roared with laughter at some scenes. Mrs. Raymond, Mrs. Kirkby and Mr. Scott presented the "Music of Christmas." Mr. Scott played his guitar to the song "Go Tell it on the Mountain." Janet. Heibein Pauline McLellan Jill McCutcheon Members, former members and friends gathered Friday niught for the Brussels Legion Pipe Band's 25th reunion. Rev. K. limes a member of the, Pipe band said grace. Pipe Major Tom MacFarlane proposed a toast to the band members. About 42 recent and former members of the band were present. Rev. Innes thanked former members of the Pipe Band for Melville Guild has pot luck The Guild of Melville Presby- terian Chdrch held a potluck supper at the church on January 19. There was a good attendance in spite of the weather. The "New Year" was the theme of the regular meeting which followed the supper. Rose Marie Bishop gave a reading on the New Year, and the hymn "Standing at the Portal" was sung. The scripture, Galatians 6: 1-10 was read in unison, followed by prayer by Kathleen Semple. An interesting topic on New Year Thoughts was presented by Mrs. Semple. The hymn "Oh God of Bethel by Whose Hand" was sung. Margaret McCutcheon presided for the business and welcomed the members , and thanked Rose Marie and Kathleen for arranging the supper and the devotions. Reports were given, some thank- you notes read and the roll call was answered by giving a New Years resolution and the payment of membership fees. It was agreed to give the Board of Managers a substantial sum of money. Plans were made for the January birthday party at the nursing home. Isobel Adams and Kate Wilson will be in cha -e of the February meeting. coming. , Mr. Kennedy from Trenton was the farthest away former member to attend. Reeve of Brussels. Cal Krauter a former member, also made a speech to the Pipe Band. The first organizer of the group George Elliot made a speech and told of the 25 years of the band. The band was formed in 1952 with 12 Members. The men travelled to Lucknow for lessons. The first parade was held in April 1953. The first year the band had 33 engagements and knew eight songs. Brussels held its first Band Tattoo with seven bands. In the present band there are 15 members. A concert may be planned in the park this summer as another reunion activity. Mrs, Harman. .Peyries. of R.R. 3, Brussels is wearing a cast on her left wrist these days, the result of a fracture when she fell on slippery snow in their laneway. , Mrs. Larry Lahp..antl daughter of Hanover spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs.. W.W, Miss Jessie Little is a patient in. Wingham and District Hospital, Allan Webb, who was a patient in Wingham Hospital, came home. on Saturday. Mrs, Douglas Spence, who just recently returned from a trip to St. Petersburg, Florida, where. she visited a frierkcl she had not seen in 45 years, was admitted to Wingham Hospital on Sunday, Passe Muraille returning to Blyth Blyth Centre for the Arts has announced that it will be bringing Theatre Passe Muraille to Memorial Hall on Feb. 17. The Show will be 18 Wheels, a country and western musical play about truck drivers. Tickets will go on sale next week at the Huron Expositor in Seaforth. Theatre pass Muraille has become a popular part of the local theatre scene and has made Blyth one of its stops on its tours. The only other area performance will be in Listowel. Brussels Public School
