Grey appoints for '77 Brussels Stockyard Repoil
Bill Broadworth, Huron
County Associate Agricultural
Representative with the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture and Food
has been promoted to the position
of Agricultural Representative for
the district of Thunder Bay.
Since coming to Huron County,
three and one half years ago, Mr.
Broadworth has worked closely
with diarymen in areas of dairy
farm management. More and
more dairymen are 'becoming
more concerned about proper,
adequate nutrition in their dairy
herds. The Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food's
computerized dairy feed
formulation program is a valuable
aid to the diaryman in assuring
sound nutrition. Mr. Broadworth

Broadworth worked as Assistant
and Assocaite Agricultural.
Representative in Peterborough
County and the regional
municipality of Ottawa - Carleton.
In assuming the Thunder Bay
position, Mr. Broadworth will be
responsible for the co-ordination
and administration of Ontario
Ministry ofAgriculture and Food
policies and programs in that
district.
Bill and Lynda Broadworth and
their three children will be
moving to Thunder Bay where
Bill will assume his position as
Agricultural Representative
effective March 1st.
He said that if production
follows the current trend until the
end of March,, the 1976-77 dairy
year will be what was predicted -
97 million hundredweight of
industrial milk.

Township Council.
Leona Armstrong and Clifford
W. Bray were appointed
representatives from Grey
Township Council to the Brussels
Recreation Committee for the
years 1977 and 1978.
Reeve Roy Williamson was
appointed representative to the
Maitland V alley Conservation
authority for a two year term 1977
and 1978 and as representative of
Grey Township Council to the
Board of Trusteesof Seaforth
Community Hospital.
Gerald Blake was appointed as
fence viewer for the Township of
Grey.
The Reeve and Treasurer were
authorized to make application to
the Ministry of Transportation
and Communications for the
balance of 1976 Road. Subsidy.
The Reeve will be paid a salary
of $1,000.00, the. Deputy-Reeve
and Councillors be paid a salary
of $850.00 for the year 1977,
council decided.
Grader operators, Har ry Gillis
and Larry Keiffer be paid at the
.rate of $5.30 per hour for the
year 1977.
Edythe M. Cardiff, Clerk-
Treasurer and 'I a.x Collector will
be paid a salary of $7,892.00 plus
car allowance of $800.00 and
Marilyn Engel, office assistant
will be paid at the rate of $3.20
per hour.
Ross Engle, Road
Superintendent be given an
increase of $57 6.00 in salary
making his total salary for 1977
$10,176.
The Clerk was instructed to
request additional funds from the
Ontario Ministry of agriculture
and Food for tile drainage.
A membership fee in the
amount of $27.50 to the Ontario
Good Roads Association will be
paid.
Council will buy a plow for the
truck, model 259SPV with
attachments and half cab shield
for the sum of $8,400.00 plus
$130.00, to be put on the new I
H.0 truck, subject to M.T.C.
approval.
Accounts paid included -
General $2,909.17 and Roads and
Bridges $6354.99 for a total of
$9,264.16.
A lighter supply of cattle at
Brussels Stockyards traded
actively. All classes of pigs sold
higher. There were 544 cattle and
1410 pigs on offer.
Choice Steers - 39.00 to 41.00
with sales to 41,25.
Good Steers - 37.00 to 39.00.
A steer consigned by Alvin
Grainger of Gorrie weighing 1090
lbs. topped the market at 41.25.
Twelve steers consigned by

averaging 1130 lbs. sold for 41.00
with his offering of 32 steers
averaging 1241 lbs. sold for

Dairy doing better
Whelan tells farmers
Eugene Whelan, federal industrial milk production in
minister of agricUlture, said the Canada appears to be on target.
Canadian dairy industry is doing
a better job of reducing surplus
stocks than the industry in many
other countries.
Speaking to about 450 Grey and
Bruce County farmers in
Hanover, the minister said
