Ushers were Paul Jewitt, Denise Gross, and Joanne and Gerben Wilts. Christmas music was provided by organist Gail Lear Full house for concert A full house enjoyed the Christ­ mas concert at Hullett Central Public School on Wednesday night. The principal Ron Jewitt was the M.C. Junior choir was directed by Barb Bosman and Mr. D. Higgins. Senior band was directed by Barb Bosman followed by the Christmas operetta, “Areal Canadian Christmas’’. The students council held a draw for a basket of Christmas goodies which was won by Jewel Plunkett. Principal Ron Jewitt thanked all who took part and all for coming. Cheerio Club gives gifts The Cheerio Club’s Christmas banquet was held on December 17 at Hillcrest Restaurant. A hot turkey dinner with all the trimm­ ings was served by Paul and Marg Brunkard. The committee in charge was Mary Longman and Vietta Hog­ gart. Mary asked the blessing and welcomed all. She gave the reading “Wishes for all” about a wish you get what you desire and a poem “Christmas”. Sheconducted a draw. The winners were Margaret Good and Estella Adams. Lucky saucer was won by Estella Adams and the lucky chair by Mary Longman. Twelve answered the roll call with a current event. The minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer’s report were read by Dora Shobbrook. Correspondence consisted of a thank you from Rose Mary Armstrong for the donation to Huron Day Centre. It was moved to get a box of fruit for Christmas for Ron Nesbitt. The eve service planned and pianist Barb Bosman. Rev. Snihur welcomed all and gave the announcements. Flowers on the memorial stand were in loving memory of Mabel Scott, who passed away last Sunday; and on the piano, in loving memory of Brad Kennedy, placed by his wife Jean and family. The Christmas eve candlelight service will be at 8 p.m. The Board of Trustees has requested a congregational meeting immedi­ ately after church on January 4, to discuss the possible purchase of the land next to the church. The 4th Advent Candle of Hope was lit by Gordon and Darlene Shobbrook. The Children’s Time was the conclusion of “The Chocolate Church Mouse.” When the Star spoke to the mouse, it taught him that the meaning of Christmas is not gifts, but love. Visiting on Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson were Mr. and Mrs. George McDonald of Aurora. Remember the Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 8 p.m. Edythe Beacom was hostess on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 1 p.m. to a Christmas dinner at Blyth Inn. Those present were Murray and Shirley Lyon, Brad and Deanna, Londesboro; Bert and Joanne Lyon, Londesboro; Wayne and Jane Lyon and Justin, Clinton; Ron and Cathy Moes, Laura, Kerison, A. J. from Tiverton; Calvin and Cheryl Bakelaar, Laura Lyon and Edythe Beacom, Londesboro. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Dougherty on the birth of a son, Steven Russell, on December 19 in Wingham Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Bruce held Christmas for her brothers and sister on Sunday, December 21. Present were Ruth and Gordon Craig of Guelph, Hubert Schroeder of Exeter, Frank and Shirley Grealis of London, and Howard Grealis and friend from Clinton. draw was donated by Estella Adams and won by Mary Long­ man. A lucky number was won by Clara Riley. An exchange of gifts tookplacebynumbersdrawn. A vote of thanks to the committee and the Brunkards was given by Edythe Beacom.
