In all the Christmas Concerts last week, Grey Township School was the only one that ran a baby-sitting
service so that parents could enjoy the concerts without little kids getting tired. Above, front row, Rebecca
Brubacher looks after her little sister, Sarah; Ann Uhler minds Michelle Dewitt; Charmaine Lichti takes
care of Candace [last name unknown]; and Cathy Earl holds Amanda Stratton. Behind, Angie Williams
reads to Angie Stratton, while sitter Jason Prescott is temporarily unemployed. All the volunteer sitters
are from Grade 6; the free service was offered in the school library.

A Christmas story
The best Christmas gift
Sally’s brother Timmy was
writing a letter to Santa, when she
askedhim, “Timmy, would you
write Santa a letter for me, too?”
Sally didn’t know how to write, you
see.
“All right,” said Timmy.
“What do you want Santa to bring
you?” Sally thought and thought.
“I don’t know what to ask for,” she
told her brother. “That’s easy,”
said Timmy. “Why don’t you ask
for a fire engine? ’ “No, I don’t
think 1 want a fire engine,” Sally
said. “Then how about a trans
former?” said Timmy. “No, Idon’t
want a transformer.”
Timmy was getting annoyed
with his little sister. “You’d better
decide what you want to ask Santa
first. I have to write my own ietter
now!”
Sally looked at all her toys. She
had two dolls, a toy stove and sink,
a dollhouse, crayons and a coloring
book, and lots and lots of stuffed
animals.
She thought about it every day
until it was Christmas Eve, and she
still had not thought of something
she didn't already have.
For the first time she could
remember, Sally was not excited as
she and Timmy hung their stock
ings over the chimney.

The next euchre will be on
January 12, 1987 hosted by the
Ethel Women’s Institute.
On Christmas morning, Timmy
was the first one out of bed. He
dashed into the living room and
soon he came running into Sally’s
room to wake her up. “Sally!” he
said, “Come see whait Santa
brought you! ’ ’ Sally jumped out of
bed and ran to the living room.
There, under the tree, was a big
box marked “To Sally from
Santa.”
Sally ran to the box and looked
in. Inside was an adorable puppy!
