Euchre was played on Thursday
evening in the Walton Hall spon
sored by the Women’s Institute.
There were eight tables in play
with prizes going to the high lady,
Alberta Stevens; low, Dorothy
Daer; high man, Harold Bolger
and low, John Simpson.
The prize for the birthday closest
Walton people
Philip and Dianne Blake, Water
loo spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doug
Fraser and visited other relatives
in the community.
Miss Patricia Hackwell, Toronto
spent the weekend at the home of
her parents Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Hackwe.’l.
We are glad to report that Nelson
Reid returned to his home in the
village on Saturday; he had spent
the past few weeks in the Stratford
Hospital.

Advent
candle lit
at Duff's
church
The first Sunday of Advent was
observed at Duff s United Church
Sunday morning when Rev. Bon
nie Lamble was assisted by her
daughter Barbara in the lighting of
the first Advent Candle.
In the children’s story the
children were reminded of this
special day in the church. It is the
first day of the New Year in the
church. Thecolourfor adventis
purple and lighting the first candle
means Peace to the World. The
junior choir sang an opening
number, led by Rev. Bonnie
Lamble.
A special duet was sung by
Graeme Craig and his daughter
Shannon. Serving Communion
were Bruce Clark, Ken McDonald,
Ray Huether, Viola Kirkby, Marg
aret Craig, Barry Hoegy and
Graeme Craig.
Greeting worshippers at the
door were Don and Marilyn
McDonald. Organist was Margery
Huether. Offering was received by
Allan Searle, Ian Wilbee and
Laverne McClure. Announce
ments were given. The U.C.W. pot
luck dinner at 6:30 p.m. Wednes
day, December 3. Junior choir
practice is Thursday, Dec. 4,4:15 -
5:15. Tuesday, Dec. 2 official board
meeting for the Pastoral charge at
the home of Don and Marilyn
McDonald. Next Sunday is White
