TILL 9 County Road Dept, honours employees Four employees of the Huron County Road Department were honoured at the unit’s annual banquet and dance, held in Blyth Friday night, receiving pins and gifts as tokens of appreciation for their service to the department. A surprise presentation was made to County Engineer Bob Dempsey by Joe Hallahan of Blyth and Dale Edgar of RR 3, Wingham, on behalf of the Road Employees Association. Mr. Dempsey recent ly announced his resignation to take up a position with an insurance company, a decision he said had been “one of the most difficult of my life.’’ In his acceptance speech, Mr. Dempsey said that Huron County has one of the best road systems in Ontario, with the credit entirely due to the employees working with him. “I get all the credit for our accomplishments, but you people doall the accomplishing,” he said. “If I have a team working with me over the next nine years half as good as you people have been over the past nine, I’ll be a happy man.” The Employees Association also presented a gift to Bruce Smith of Blyth, who is retiring after nine years with the road department as a full-time employee, and several years as a part-time worker at the Auburn maintenance garage. Bob Bell, Reeve of Tuckersmith Township and chairman of the county road committee presented service pins to two long-time employees of the department, commending both for dedicated and outstanding service. Henry Hendriks of RR 6, Goderich, Auburn garage road foreman, received his 30-year service pin, while Joe Steffler of Walton, Auburn garage shop foreman and dangerous goods driving instructor, was given a pin for 15 years of service. Nearly 200 people attended the event, whichwas catered by the ladies of the Blyth Legion Auxi liary. Music was provided by Bill McAllister of Auburn. 1 ★ BAKERY* ■ LEWIS CRUSHED WHEAT, 80% OR ■ 100% WHOLE WHEAT ■ BREAD 675 G. .79 Imealtyme hot dog or IhAMBURGERROLLS 8's .79 ■ DIETRICH’S 100% WHOLE WHEAT ■ BREAD 675 G. .89 1 LEWIS DATE FILLED■ COOKIES 1.35 I ★ MEAT SPECIALS* ■ SCHNEIDER’S REG.
