Homemakers get donation The Blyth Swinging Seniors met in the Memorial Hall on November 26 for their regular monthly meeting with an attendance of about 30. After President John Hesselwood welcomed all, Lloyd Walden with Ruby Philp at the piano led a sing song. Noone had a November birth­ day, so “Happy Birthday” was sung for three members having Decemberbirthdays. Assistant secretary, Ferne McDowell read the minutes and Treasurer Nora Kelly gave a financial report. Plans were made for the Birth­ day Party at Huronview on Decem­ ber 3, where at 2 p.m. Aubrey Toll will help entertain. It was decided to give a donation to Huron County Homemakers toward its fundraising campaign. Euchre, Lost Heir and Scrabble were enjoyed with the following results: Euchre: high lady, Rena Watt; low lady, Gladys Johnston; high man, Nora Kelly (playing as a man); low man, Margaret Nesbit (playingasaman). InLostHeir: highlady, GeneSnell; low lady, Mary Walden; highman, Millar Richmond; low man, Alvin Snell. Evalene Webster was the winner in Scrabble. There will be no meeting in December. The next one will be on January 7, with a pot luck dinner at 12 noon. Edith Vincent of Belgrave will show slides of Alaska. members Three new members were induc­ ted into the Blyth Lions Club at their Nov. 27 meeting, Brock Hasty, Steve Howson and Rainer Sauer. They were all sponsored by Lions Paul Kerr and Murray Musty. The Blyth Lions made donations to the Londesboro Lions for their Back the Biter project, the Family and Children’s Huron County Bureau, and to help with the purchase of hearing aids for an area youth. There are still some tickets remaining for the Lions Christmas Dance on Dec. 20. Groups or individuals wishing tickets can contact Lions Murray Musty. Tickets are now available for the Lions New Year’s Eve Dance. Tickets are $50 per couple which includes everything, and are avail­ able from Lion Gerald Kerr. The Blyth Lions have arranged for Santa to pay his annual visit on Saturday, Dec. 6. Children’s films will be shown at the Blyth Memorial Hall at2 p.m., and Santa will arrive at 2:40 p.m. Santa is bringinghis photographer with him, and anyone who wishes can have their picture taking with Santa for a small fee. The winner of the Lions Saturday night draw for Nov. 29 was Jim Dickson. The next meeting of the Blyth Lions Club will be their annual family Christmas party on Thurs­ day, Dec. 11. Mr. and Mrs. Elvey Rock of Monkton and Mrs. Clara Rinn were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Martin Misiner and Timmie of Guelph. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Moffat of Lucknow visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Daer, Tuesday evening. Eleven tables were in play at the November 24 euchre party at Blyth Memorial Hall. High lady was Dorothy Daer while Ruth Doherty was disguised as the high man. Esther Moffat of Clinton had the low score among the ladies while Mel Jacklin of Brussels had the men’slow score. Vera Hesselwood of Blyth and Jim Doig from Seaforth had the most lone hands. Bert Daer won the special prize. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Foran and Mrs. Clara Rinn were dinner guests on Sunday, Nov. 23 with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rock of Seaforth. Mr. ano Mrs. Lome Jamieson of Wingham and Mrs. Clarence Hanna of Belgrave were Thursday night visitors with Mrs. Clara Rinn.
